Tile Roof Cleaning Saint Petersburg Florida

This is a Tile Roof we cleaned today in Saint Petersburg. It was a white barrel tile with the coloring baked into it. The Lady who called had never heard of Non Pressure Roof Cleaning before. It took me almost a half hour on the phone with her Friday educating her and putting her mind at ease that we would do a first class job and not cause any damage. She came home at lunch time as we were finishing up and could not get over how clean it looked. She had seen my pictures and video on my web site but never believed hers would come out as clean as the pictures she saw. Feels real good when a plan comes together and you have a happy customer.

First off she found me on merchant circle and followed it to my web site and watched my video which usually helps alot. She told me the roof was only 3 yrs old and had never been cleaned before. I explained the entire process of non pressure roof cleaning to her and told her that this method of cleaning lasts much longer than pressure washing alone as it is more of a treatment not just a cleaning. I explained how we take safety measures when applying our mix by using a ground person to keep everything watered. I also mentioned that I was lic and insured and had been in buisiness for over 10yrs. It was then that she told me she was in ins. I think she actually ownes the buisiness. After chit chatting for sometime she said she felt confident that I knew what I was doing and told me to schedual her in. Not much else to it David. Get a call, make a friend, make a sale! Now if I could just get about 200 more calls like that I would be all set!

Yea what Doug said, Grfat job! :D

Scott, Maybe I'm gonna look like a dumb butt for asking but what the heck does GrFat mean?

lol...he accidentally wrote grfat instead of great. Just poking a little fun.

Ive never done a white tile roof. Does it take longer because of the light color, or do you use a stonger mix?

I've done hundreds of them. Some clean up very easy and some need a kick in the azz like David. LOL:) Actually depends on the tile alot of times. Some are just concrete, while others have coatings on them. Some are painted and some have the color baked into them with or without a slurry coating on them. And then it all depends on when the last time they were cleaned and how black with mold they are. Its always a surprise when you first start. I never seem to know until I start applying the LOVE. The one I did in the picks had the color baked in and had a dull concrete finish. They clean up a bit slower but are less slippery to walk on. :) This one was aprox 3500 sq ft and took me about 1 1/2 hrs to clean up. I used 40 gal sh 12.5% -50 gals water and aprox 60 surfactant. Had my helper (the wife) add another 15 gals of water 1/4 way through cause it was real strong. Still had 35 gals of mix left when I was done. I used about 70 gals total. Most of the roof took 2 coats.

Nice job, Larry.
Thanks for the tile roof info you gave me. I have done two since then and they came out great.

Your Welcome Kemp. Wish I could have done more for you. Sorry I was short on time that day. Don't hesitate to pick my brain if you want. Hopefully next time I will have more time. :)

Hi Larry of All Surface.

Really nice job upon completion. What a difference! I love the tropical landscape around the home.

I am a native of South Florida, transplanted to South Georgia due to the last big group of hurricanes a few years ago (Katrina, Etc.) and sometimes I wish I was still down in South Florida where I grew up and where my original pressure cleaning business, which was AAction Mobile Power Wash, grew and thrived.

I hear its really nice down in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Beach right now.

I did an absolute TON of these type of white concrete tile roofs years ago.

I always liked when cleaning them how they would go go from dark and dingy looking to !!! BAM!!! Super White !!!!

Great Before and After Photos Larry!

Keep up the excellent work!

Hi Steve,

I read your post about how to clean barrel tile roofs and wanted to respond by saying ALL the information you need now or will ever need in the future regarding the cleaning of barrel tile roofs can be found by looking in the archives of PWI and searching for this topic, Tile Roof Cleaning or Shingle Roof Cleaning.

There has been huge volumes of info written here regarding how to clean these roof types.

Rather than having me tell you what works best, you would be better served by trying the Apple Cider mix that has been posted by Apple Roof Cleaning and is available as a STICKY post in the Roof Cleaning 250. Then if you want to vary and learn and experiment with different companies chemical compounds, you have a base cleaning agent to base your experience from.

Read, Read, Read, and study this forum and use the search feature and you will learn. Good Luck.

P.S. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for hands on experience, get out there build or buy a trailer, put some equipment on it and get out there and go clean some roofs.
Start with the "LOVE" and use apple sauce (shingle mix) or Apple Cider (Stronger Tile Mix) as a starting point then build yourself a job spreadsheet in MS Excel and note things like dwell time, chemical types used, chemical solution ratios, tile or shingle roof, roof color variables, environmental conditions, etc. and make yourself a database to draw knowledge from and soon, by doing a number of jobs with various scenarios you will become proficient and eventually a "pro" at roof cleaning if this is your chosen vocation.

Just a thought,"Nothing worth doing in life tastes as sweet as the success from doing it right the first time using your own experience and first hand knowledge"

I hope this advice helps.
