Today Was Just...

Hey Ted, good thing you use an xjet, that geyser could have been shooting a house wash mix all over the place...been there, done that! I was doing a pool deck and suddenly I lost pressure. I first thought I ran out of gas. When I got closer to the truck, I heard the engine running, then I saw the burst hose spraying a house wash mix all over the neighbors SUV!

That's how my week was a few weeks ago, happen twice in the same week.I hauled every piece of pressure hose I had to the dump and replaced it with 1-200ft piece for the reel,1-100ft and 1-50ft for backup or for adding to whats on the reel.I got the grey non-marking good year Neptune hose.

I've got a 100' section of 2-wire Neptune non-marking blue. Guess what? About a month ago it started marking.

All future hose I order is going to be gray.

Geez Ralph, I hadn't even thought of that. That could be a real expensive bummer!

Here is mine, got called to come help the guys off the roof because the lift lowered while they were working.

No leaks, just lowering itself.

Got it back, ran it up and down and after a few minutes spewing Hydraulic fluid all over. Leaking at a fitting at the pump that I can't get to.

Dropped at the shop. Had it 5days. Luckily we could reschedule ladder and hatch work for those days.

$800 later the leak is fixed and it has a new thingamajiggy that was supposed to fix it from coming down

Next day I get a call. After three or four times up it is falling again.

Call the shop. Says it might bee fluid that is too thin/for the heat. I ask why didn't they try that $800 ago?

So now I will change 8 gallons of fluid myself for $100 so I don't have to pay them $220 to do it and will replace a $200/filter that they want $480 to replace.

THEN I will probably find out they installed a defective thingamajiggy when it starts falling again

Aaaaaaargh!!!!

This is why the guys need the Batman utility belt with the grappling hook and the motorized lowering device so they can get down.

If you invent it, it will sell.

That sucks about the fluid, you would think that using the same type of fluid for years now would not be an issue now.

I hate that kind of crap - it's sooo frustrating!!

Hydraulic fluid does wear out and lose its viscosity, the same as oil.
