Tractor washing

how many tractors can you wash in one hour? 2 man crew, all white,no polished alluminum, day cabs.

Depends on what they are looking for. Soap and rinse no scrubbing, no special care to the aluminum, should be able to do about 30 an hour. If there is more detail to it then you could go as low as 4. It just depends.

30 an hour
I must be doing it all wrong. How do you wash so many?
two man crew and one on the gun i can only clean about 10 with sleepers.

Jonathan is talking about just soap and rinse I am sure. I used to think doing more than 10 per hour was just a dream. With the right chems and bi monthly washing 25-30 per hour is possible.

We have done 30 an hour with brushing and three guys. One soaps, one brushes, and one rinses.

Damn i wash them weekly and we only wash a lil under 10 an hour. you guys do rims and tires, spray down chasis? and what kind of truck. Im talking about semi tractors with the full size sleeper. tell me i dont have to step it up my guys will hate you :D theese truck are full of bugs and dirt in one week what soap are you using ellias

First of all, he said 2 man for daycabs. I assume he wants to brush them so one sprayer. Some do not think its necessary to brush and thank you guys very much because I like getting new accounts. :D I say two hours for a quality job.

I was just stating how we do it. If I was doing a bunch of day cabs, and it was taking two guys an hour to do 10, and saw that someone else was using 3 guys and doing thirty, I would rethink how I did things. This does include rims, and frames, though we don't brush the frames.

We used to be able to do about 10 black sleepers an hour, using DI water. They came out amazing. We don't have the account anymore, because the corporate office gave it to a national contractor. The trucks have never been the same since.

Scotty, who took it over for you? Did they switch because of price or because corporate told them they had to deal with the national company?

Sorry to disappoint you Joe, but the only way you would get an account from us would be to lowball, and if you were to do that, you couldn't do a good quality job:rolleyes: . We have pretty stiff competition here and the pricing is fairly low already.:( We do those daycabs for a little under $8 and our competitors are doing them for $5. At those prices you have to be moving along fairly quickly. We do wheels, frames and backs of cabs, all things that our competition skips. Our customers prefer a more thorough cleaning due to all the salt and liquid de-icer that is used up here. It is VERY CORROSIVE! Good luck!:D

I agree with Scott and Blaine 2 man soap and rinse from 20-40 per hour, with a 3rd man brushing about the same. 2 stepping not much different, just use more water.

Corporte forced them. It sucked, because they called me a low baller...I had been doing the account for five years, and making good money at it. About $2k for a 5 hour day. The local operations manager even begged them to let them keep us, and they would not do it.

The trucks dont look nearly as good now, and this company, that sells on recovery, doesn't.

I think Bears changed the question. I thought it asked 30 daycabs with 2 men. I gave my honest opinion. Sorry Biodude and Scott if I offended you. I've worked at those speeds but not with 2 men.

Ron,
I'm not sure if I can afford the enrollment fee!:D Paul already asked me that too. I am working on producing a couple of videos right now and I will have to see if I can get away at that time. Plus, it's always tough with a new baby around...sounds like it would be fun tho!
