That's a nice trailer and all but it seems to me that whatever a guy is going to pull this with... The tires from the pulling vehicle would kick dirt right into the front of that nice new machine. It wouldn't take long before sand and mud got into critical components and damaged the pressure washer, ie the ignition switch, pull start, or even the thermostat control box.

Just an observation and the first think I noticed with the machine. Please take into consideration that I am very practical and logical when I look at things. A new location for your machine behind the water tank would definately save the new owner a lot of hassle. Either that or maybe some sort of mud gaurd.

Like I said, just my immediate observation of the set-up. Other than that, great looking rig.

Justin, Out west we dont deal with those issues. keeping them mounted outside we can acctually keep them cleaner than units mounted inside. I have owned both and i think its funny yuo mentioned this i have felt like posting yuor same comment on a interior mounted unit. I think you get the interior unit dirtier and cant clean it as easily.

Just my opinion owning both enclosed and exterior mounted machines.

I think you're missing my point. That open trailer with the front of the machine facing the rear wheels and being that close, it seems to me that dirt from my tires... while pulling, would go right up and hit the front of the skid unit.

One question. How do you get a pressure washer dirty when it's mounted inside? To my knowledge, I have built many, sold many, and see many all the time and the ones I see aren't dirty at all. And we don't wash the pressure washer itself, but I do put epoxy on the floor and up the sides of the trailer so that the inside can be rinsed down. Other than that, the machines I mount in trailers don't get dirty... heck I'm still trying to figure out how you all get them dirty.

Some automobiles have mud flaps. This is so that dirt and mud and rocks don't fly up and hit the car behind you. Tractor trailers must have mud flaps for this reason. Enclosed trailers have what you call a rock guard. That is in place so that rocks don't damage your trailer.

I was born in Phoenix and spent many years out west and I know there is dust, dirt, and rocks out there too.

Anyway, I said something because it was an obvious problem. At least it would be behind my dually. From experience, that's my opinion. I, myself wouldn't mount it in that fashion but that's me.

Simply put: Enclosed trailers are better for colder regions and open trailers can be better for warmer regions.

TO break it down this way for the advantages of each:

ENCLOSED TRAILER:Equipment is protected from the weather.
Equipment is protected from thieves.
Can store(Shelving)alot more.
Can be heated for winter use.
PW won't freeze after each use in winter so
you can go from job to job. ETC.ETC.

OPEN TRAILER:Cheaper then enclosed.
Don't have to vent out equipment.
Most likely a littler faster to use because no walls
in the way.
Can see traffic better behind you while your driving
ETC.ETC.

As for rocks kicking up on Powerwasher when towing in open trailer make sure back wheels have mud flaps on them.

Soon I'll have both Open and closed trailers along with Pickup truck and Van. Best of all worlds...Except no Box truck as of yet.

LOL,,,, Justin your right.... easy buddy. I can show you some of that dirt inside.. I guess you never dust your house? ahhh you got it. all i'm saying is that its not easy to clean an enclosed unit. they do get engine carbon and soot from the exhaust systems even if they are vented. on and exterior unit they get alot of dirt from going down the road. my only get washed about three or four time a day. LOL

the water wear from washing is probably more wear than dirt.

You win i got your point... I think... did you get mine? because i told you from the get go that its just my opinion.

I preffer units not closed in. only for phoenix, miami, california & south texas. if i lived in that nasty north or east i would want a box truck. something like Dave olson. I wouldnt even run and enclosed trailer.

Oh no now i've opened another can of worms... I wouldnt own and enclosed trailer.

Now if i owned and enclosed trailer it would be and alumilite brand. no wood and no steel. steel goes away and i dont care what you treat the wood with.

you see i started in chicago and i know about winter and the salt.( cancer) do you know what cancer is?

Moister will destroy wood and metal. oh i'm not putting mine away for the winter like most guys. i running all year long. so i need a truck like Dave olson.

I'm sure Dave Olsons trucks are undercoated. ZEEBART,, let me see" its us or rust" I think thats how the saying goes...

if we want to talk about dream rigs then lets get some fantasy going. why not a diamond titanium plated undercarrige.

ok, i'm back,,,, reality is that we all have opinions. and thats all they are. (OPINIONS) I got your question in teh forst posts. Obviously you did not get mine.

I think enclosed Rigs recieve more damage in the south due to improper cleaning. Guys simply dont keep them as clean because its more difficult.

in your world then never get dirty. hey thats great!!!! but we have lots of dirt and dust here. and enclosed or not that dust gets in.....

I'm done,, at least my buddy Dan is getting some press.....

Ron, LOL. I get your point. It's late here and I was ready to turn this thing off.

I like the enclosed a lot up here but I also like the open trailer. My comment was simply on the location of the machine in retro-spec to the rear tires kickin up even more dust right into the critical components. It wasn't directed at the open trailer because I have one and I like it. It's handy for quick jobs. Building more.

However, since you brought it up, an enclosed trailer can more than pay for itself with billboard advertising alone. Just driving around that shiny nice white or red, or blue, or whatever color billboard with you name splashed all over the side... Advertising. And billboard advertising at that. A kind that gets noticed more. Heck you can park it in a parking lot at K-mart so you are right against the road and advertise with a billboard.

I do like the open trailers though. Just wouldn't mount my machine with the front facing the rear tires of the pulling vehicle without some sort of sheild or something. I have mine mounted with the machine in back with the tank in front. That way the stuff that kicks up from the tires or the bugs going down the road hit the back of the tank, not the front of the machine. Then I simply wash the tank.

Anyway, all in good fun and opinions are wonderful, aren't they! I agree an you agree and maybe someone learned something. Who knows.

By the way, the trailers I set up are all aluminum and have 3/4" pressure treated plywood with 2 coats of 2 part, marine epoxy. I rinse mine down after every wash. Never gets dirty.

Anyway, it's late and I'm babbling on and on. Go to sleep and call me on that reel tomorrow.

I have a similar set up (smaller trailer) and in fact the same machine and I have never had a problem with debris being kicked up from my tow vehicle. I would have to say more damage comes from water and the differant chemicals I use.

Hey Justin...if you continue to post pics of my rig on the Internet w/o my permission, I'm gonna have to charge you royalties! Even though these pics were taken PRIOR to delivery, er pickup, I had already paid for 2/3 of it, therefore it was mine when you took those photo's. LOL.

Hey. So nice of you to join us Bryan.

Glad to see you here. How is that rig treating you? You should post a pic of the rig all lettered up.
