Unloader Problem?

I currently have my unloader plumbed to a water tank for bypass, but when I release my trigger on my gun, my pressure gauge jumps up about 1700 psi. What could be the reason for this? I have attached pictures that show pressure with open gun and closed gun. Any help is much appreciated.

The unloader is set too high. Peak pressure to make the valve bypass should be 10% over operating pressure. Back the black knob off a little, and that should take care of it. What you're seeing is the pressure trapped in your hose. If the gauge were to be mounted on the pump side of the unloader, it would zero out during bypass.
