Using a paint sprayer

I have recently been using a pump sprayer to distribute my SH mix on to tough spots on job sites because it allows me to have a higher concentration when compared to downstreaming the solution. I noticed that I have a paint sprayer at the house that runs on electricity and was wondering if that would be a good tool to use in order to speed up my cleaning process. I'm curious as to whether I can use a paint sprayer while I try to save some money for a real chemical sprayer. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks, Drake

Bleach is extremely corrosive and will probably damage the metal parts of the sprayer. Paint sprayers will spray a lot of different types of chemicals but unless it is a cheap throw away sprayer, I would not risk it.

For volumes more than a pump sprayer, I would go with a 12 volt sprayer and then if you need even more volume, a larger 12 volt sprayer or the air diaphragm pump.

X-Jet is the way to go.....no orfice

Get a Shur flo pump from northern tool, the 3.5 gpm ag series buy the protection/replacement plan for 10-12$ when the chlorine kills your pump you get a new one for free and pay 10-15$ for another replacement plan. Best way to go. Also clear poly hose is good stuff unless you want to pay a little more for kuri tec hose. there is many pumps/hoses to choose from. Good luck, Hope it works out for you.

A paint sprayer just does not sound like a good idea. Either an ex jet or down streaming is the way to go. you just need to find the right mix ratio and maybe use a couple of applications. the less tools you have to pull out on the job site the better off you are. Give it some time you will hit a stride

Sometimes,..a pump sprayer is what you need,..don't always try to over simplify things,..there's not always an easier way. Sometimes the easiest way is the one that works.

*Be sure to rinse the pump sprayer wand with clean water after spraying strong SH,..it will last much longer if done after each use.

**Oh,.yea,..paint sprayer would be junk in short order,..and would most likely not have a very good spray pattern for what we do.

Paint sprayers are made for Paint. Think about it. Paint is very abrasive. The main ingredient is clay or sand. Also Chemicals that are harsh. Why not use what you have to spot spray chemicals? I would do it if the sprayer is not being used. Especially a cheepo one!

I use an electric back pack sprayer for all of my SH applications. I only use SH as and when required, don't squirt it on every thing when there is no need. I have an extendable lance which gets me up 2 1/2 -3 storeys no problem.

Back pack sprayers are an accident waiting to happen years ago i had bought a gas one to apply chemical to truck tires. My nephew came back to the truck an had burns on his hinnie an legs.Could have been a huge lawsuit if it wasnt family. There are far better options than a backpack sprayer.

Beggars me to understand why your nephew would have sprayed his legs and ass with what ever you were using. Still boys will be boys. If you are going to use any sort of applicator with corrosive chemicals it is common sense that you should be wearing PPE. If you are going to get out there in a Tee shirt, shorts and flip flops then you haven't taken the time to don adequate protection. Pack sprayers are not dangerous...people are dangerous. It's just like guns...guns don't kill people ...people with guns kill people.
When I use my pack sprayer I wear gumboots, wet weather leggings and a waterproof coat...problem solved. It's all about using the part of your anatomy that helps to keep your ears apart.

When sprayers fail not if but when you will leak chemicals an sh is very corrosive so the chemicals leak down the the back you will not know until its to late.I am not trying to upset you or anybody else on the board. We all come to learn an share our washing experinces with one another. So throwing off on boys will be boys is not the right thing to say.He is in his last year of school for engineering so brain power is not the issue.
