Want to trade SCAG mower for hot skid

Anyone here do lawns on the side? I tried it for a while, but didn't like it. I have a barely used SCAG V-Ride stand on zero turn With only 60 hours, that I would like to either sell for enough money to buy a decent hot water setup, or trade for one, if anyone would be interested. I paid about $8000 for it brand new with taxes and cost of mulching kit about 4 months ago, and it has been garage kept. I'll sell for $4,500 firm, or trade for PW equipment.

Nice unit, have you tried lawnsite?

The only person that comes to mind that does lawns here is DJ.

I do a few too, http://www.propowerwash.com/board/upload/album.php?albumid=22

Hey Lenny that Scag mower is to good to be taken apart and tinkered with unless you don't mind spending on the higher end to do that. Good deal though for someone who needs it.

What I've been doing is searching around for a cheap as in price lawn mower to take it apart and maybe make some type of prototype surface machine for Powerwashing. You can find some cheap deals for a zero degree Turning radius mowers that's worth taking apart that won't bust the bank account.

The one I'm tracking now is a different type mower that's around $300. I also have to factor in the cost for some swivels, bars etc.. Plus time... Which on that last one this may have to wait for another day...

Wow, looks like used mowers hold value about as well as used PW equipment.

Yeah, I'm taking a big loss on it, but I figure, with the equipment to get into commercial work, I can make up the money better than having the mower sitting in my garage. The residential market around here is so cutthroat. I'm pretty sure Lake County, FL is the lowballer capital of the world.

I would like it to build a swabby like washer. I wished I had the money.

Do you have ideas know how to build one Lenny, is this a piece of equipment you would have rented if you had the need and opportunity too?

John I would like to pick your knowledge on this

I have worked with a friend on a couple of parking decks. He used a toro rider sprayer with a tank and mounted 2 pressure washers and made a surface cleaner for the front. It works great. He offered to sell me a rider to build one myself. We used a ride of scrubber to reclaim the water then filtered it.

Lenny is it the same guys with one of the top gas station videos on you tube? If it is that is a nice unit.

I asked Jerry about this years ago and he did not favor that option. Wonder if he has built one since

I'm sure Jerry would have good reasons for not converting one. Jerry could build one that would blow the others away. Haven't heard if he has built one since though.

My father who is a designer told me to watch out for guys like you Nigel:) hit me up on an email and I'll show you the mower and walk you right thru my idea. My father and my oldest sister have the designing abilities... I have it but I'm not articulate like they are and I'm more into the work labor of things.

Some of us have already built one. Look at the Husky decks. Keep in mind that when you are building the decks, that you have to pay attention to the height of the swivels, so that they don't bump the undercarriage of the mower. In retrospect, I probably would not mount the deck under the motor, but do it more like the swabby, and have it in front, so that you could go right up against parking blocks to clean.

Thanks for the offer John T, shoot me an email

Mechanically driven arms Scott S, what rpm do you spin them? Any pics?

Yes Scott is right about that. Do not have it under the mower.
Also if you let's say hooked it like a direct drive or gear driven you have to remember that the water has to travel into the spinning bars and to have it go thru a crankshaft it's not going to happen. You would pretty much have to redesign the motor itself and now your going to need a ton of money to even consider that--plus its not realistic.

Also Lenny brings up an excellent point as well that just made me think of something. The mower type surface machine if it's small it needs to be balanced enough to handle the water spraying on the deck if the engine is mounted to the real of the surface deck. A vacuum type surface machine sucks the deck downwards.. This I have no interest in at this time...

So if I build something small-balance is a key factor, along with self propelled bars and mower. No push behinds would be considered.

No pics that I am willing to post. There are still some refinements that I need to make. I also do not use a double shell, because I just could not get it to work as effectively as I wanted. I ended up with a squeegee from a scrubber that I got from a sweeper supply. It works amazingly well.
