Water Dragon 8 GPM Hot...what Surface Cleaner? Accessories? So much knowledge needed!

Okay...so I just ordered a Water Dragon 8 GPM Hot Water PW skid. Probably 3 weeks out. I know I will need to get some goodies to go with it. Roof cleaning, I can tell you EXACTLY what to get after years doing it and making all the mistakes. But for this new venture...Newbie.

I will need a good surface cleaner. Leaning towards the Steel Eagle or Whisper Wash units. I keep seeing people comment positively on the 4 bar units so I plan on that. Question is...24", 28" or 30"? What nozzle size? We will do mostly residential driveways and walkways for now until we are comfortable with the machine and start going after bigger commercial work.

I will need PW hose. 1 wire? 3 Wire? Why the heck is there wire? Probably looking at 200'.

What is the best end of hose setup...gun/wand wise for house washing?

Fuel tanks...self explanatory. But the question is...how big? I see PWS has fuel tanks available but they are fairly spendy and the capital layout is building up for an unknown adventure. Since we will be doing mostly smaller projects to start, can we get away with some 5-6 gal fuel cans to start and then later on put in a larger gas tank and plumb the diesel into one of the truck tanks? Anybody have feedback as to gal per hour on the beast so I can get an idea of run time?

How about an injector? We will likely do mostly house and driveway with larger projects in the future. Since we are primarily a roof cleaning company, I have roof mix available in large quantity, typically with Myristamine Oxide surfactant (Ammonyx Mo). Super easy for me to put a feed tube directly off that tank into an injector at the machine, however...I do know that if you pump roof mix thru a typical reel, you are going to have a problem with the manifold eventually. Ditto anything else that is not fully SH compatible. However, the percentages we use in roof cleaning are going to be far higher than with a PW, so maybe not as much a concern as I am thinking?

FW Tank. I have a 65 FW tank onboard right now for roof wash downs. I know it is small, but can it work for now as a buffer tank until I get either a bigger flatbed (8 x 12 currently) or figure out how to squeeze in a bigger tank with the truck mount compressor, roof reel, air reel, hose reel, pw reel, 1" AODD roof pump, 3/4" AODD Transfer pump, 3/8" AODD pump (plan to use that for BARC F9), roof tank and storage.

28 inch Whisper Wash...4 nozzle. I use two wire. Hose, Mosmatic Swivel, Ball valve, Legacy easy pull gun. 2.1 3-5gpm DS Injector Paul has them. Yes 5-6 gallons will wok for the start. We have a 10 and run them for 2 days before refilling. We never run a nothing thru hose swivels...hose reels are for storage only. 65 will work as long as supply keeps up

Okay...so the Whisper Wash Big guy seems to be the consensus. Do I assume you mean the Mosmatic swivel on the Big Guy...need to see if that is an option.

I will check on the injector.

Why two wire hose vs 1 wire? The Water Dragon comes with 50' of 1 wire. Is it simply tougher? Also...what size? I run 1" chem supply lines and 3/4" hose on our roof rig and I understand that 1/2" is the way to go for flow on PW gear. Bigger hose means more flow.

As for swivels...why? What is is about the swivels that cause an issue? Is it the swivel or the manifold that gives you issues in the power washing realm? We don't have issues with swivels in roof washing...but Reel manifolds, that is a whole different story. So much so that I am going to be offering a manifoldness reel to the Roof washing industry. It will still have a super swivel...but a chem proof swivel. Obviously the chem strength, pressures and temps are very different between the two setups.

Tried calling you .......

one wire=4000 psi or less. two wire = 4500 psi +. Two wire would last you longer, is a tad more rigid and harder to handle. 3/8 hose up to 10 gpm. 1/2 hose is harder to drag around all day. Downstream through my hose reel all day long. Gets rinsed out almost immediately. If my swivel(hose reel) ever starts leaking because of SH, I will do what Doug does, and just use it to wind up the hose and store. Your injector is only going to put out so much, I'm pretty sure it is no where near a roof mix strength.

Hi Kevin

I like Legacy products, really good quality.

Legacy hose, don't like Goodyear. 1-wire, black non marking.

200 ft of hose should be fine. All 3/8 inch.

I agree with Matt, a Mossmatic inline hose swivel is a must.

I'm with Doug, we use the reels for storage only.

As you know, we both live in the land of major moss, X-Jet for concrete is a must! Also use it for house washing. Chems never runs through our hoses, etc.

Thanks for all the info guys. I will take the advise and run with it. Already eyeing some commercial concrete work and just booked our first commercial building cleaning job today (Petco) with an owner we did some work for last year in one of my other companies. Going to stick with siding and concrete walkways for the time being until a bit of ROI allows for a good recovery system so we can start doing parking lots, and a much much bigger truck. On the hunt for an NPR with a 16' flatbed if anybody knows of one.

I would suggest a 1 inch manifold on the supply reel. Titan offers a 1 inch super swivel. Use a nice 3/4 hose.

Isuzu box 16 foot very nice to see all that new equipment stuffed in there 2 kohlors new hotbox 4 Titan reeks an a hydrotek skid . I told him to hurry an get it ready

Does the water dragon use a largo heater? Pics of the Water dragon a few months ago, had the Largo logo on the burner, now it says water dragon. I only ask because the Largo 10 gpm hot water skid is $6000 with fuel tanks and the water dragon is $6200(was $5800 a few weeks ago!) without them. What is the difference? I am getting close to pulling the trigger on one of them and am just curious if the water dragon has more features?
