Wet Vac with pump out

Ok another Idea could it be that the vacuum is keeping the float valve down because when the pump is running I can turn the wet vac on at it will suck and pump.. at the same time only problem is if I leave the pump running I dont think it would run dry very long

I just remembered while talking to Scott that I have a 55 Gallon blue plastic drum ... Tommorrow I amtaking all the wet vac stuff to Benton and we are going to try some stuff..I am hopeing that since the 55 Gallon drum will hold alot of water maybe the sump pump will actually run while the vac is running..
I see a couple of vacs with sump pumps so mine has got to work...
Ok lets see if I can explain I am going to cut a hole in the top of the 55 gallon drum ,set the wet vac half way in the whole leaving the drain cap off the actual wet vac bucket... Hopefully the vac will suc and then the water will run out of th drainenclosed in the 55 gallon drum and the sump pump will pump the water out of the drum.. I will get some photos in the morning...

I talked with a friend last night and he says just like Mr Alan that it needs a check valve , he said it might pulsate , Just wondering if this is going to be a problem.. I also wonder if I should waste my time using the small tank ( 16 gallon) or if I shuld just go get my 55 Gallon Blue Drum from Benton and modify it ? Well we will see this morning .. I am going to the local hardware store to get a check valve.

Yes, but now you kinked the hose. Can you adjust the float? Looks like it will need to go up real high to kick in. You really need a steel tank, as that plastic 55 will buckle.

Got it

I got it I had to cut the hose a little and then I anchored the float all the way down on the pump hose with a zip tie.. Man this thin rocks. You were right about the rectangular tank it sucked it till it finally cracked and I thought the vac was going to blow up.. The wet vac and pump work great but I think the tank is a little small though. Maybe I will find a 55 gallon drun that is metal and then buy a vac head for it.. But for this weekend I got to use what I got ... Appreciate all the help Mr Alan And Scott Thanks on yet another of my wild projects.

well we tried it out at the VA and the vac worked great , worked alot better than the shop vac with pump out feature. I was real pleased with the fact you could just keep putting water to it and it never shut off the wet vac .. It cut our cleaning time by 1 hour...

Now next project I am going to build a vac hookup for my surface cleaner I have 3 months to come up with an idea
I about 50 ft of vac hose and some vac fittings for the surface cleaner plus something to make a nice seal on the floor...

The small trailer and truck are fixing to get a complete make over this year. Paint, New Trailer Floor and a chemical tank. Surface Cleaner is getting a Stainless Steel Top And we are going to build the surface/vac system. I think I have found a 30 gallon tank at warren oil company I just got to go pick it up..Then we are going to mount it on a Stainless roller cart.
Speaking of the wet vac with pump out, after we used it one of the guys said why not use a boat beilge pump and the just let it run all the time when the vac is on, what do you all think about this Idea

Say if I did want to use the rectangular plastic container Could I build a pipe or counduit frame to reinforce the inside of it .. Would Conduit be Strong enough to support the inside from colapsing this would still make the container light weight.. I f I use steel pipe this thing is going to get heavy.Or would you reinforce the 55 gallon plastic Drum. The main reason want to use the rectangular tank is because I already have a cart built for it.

You are wasting your time with plastic. Just use a steel drum or get one made of aluminum or stainless and be done with it.
Have fun with the vacuum surfacer, it is nothing like you imagine, and I can't help you on a patented item.
Those rigid vacs are built for CFM, not lift. The small pool hose will restrict it big time and shorten the life. The lift on them are not sufficient for a vacuum surfacer unless you keep the hose real short. And I mean SHORT, and make a small surfacer.
I can sell you a vacuum surfacer for a better deal than you could try and make one.

It Works

Ok its done I ran 50 ft of 1 1/4 inch pool vac hose off of the wet vac with the sump pump and it works great. I also built a frame for the palstic tank . I used conduit and made a cage inside the tank to prevent collapse .. I know you think " How in the hell is this working " I cant answer that either.. But hey thats what alot of people around jackson said about my ugly surface cleaner that I built and it has been running strong for 2 years... LIVE AND LEARN... The vac in the big tank with all that vac hose is not real powerful but I think I have found a carpet extraction vac for about $60 used from a guy down the street I just got to go pick it up.. Anyhow I will get some pics after I wake up a little better.. I had an 7 hour hood cleaning at the university hospital last night.... Be back l8tr
