Looking to start pressure washing. My Dad has a 4gpm 3700psi pressure washer. Its a 13hp Honda with an AR pump. What work will I be able to tackle with this unit. Looking to get a better unit once I start making money.

Thanks in advance!

You should educate yourself about the industry and see what people are using. Personally I have become partial to letting the chemical do the work and using low pressure. You should practice on your own stuff and family members houses before you risk damaging someone's property. But to answer your question, I was doing gas stations with the same machine until I got into grease removal and got tires of the oil spots that I could not get out of the concrete without the heat.

You can do almost any residential service with that unit. You'll want a number 10 or larger orifice white tip for decks and fences to cut down the pressure. And a jrod and good soap injector for house washing.

Thanks everyone. Colt what chemicals would you recommend for a stockpile.

Also, would it be worth getting a hot box. Or just saving up for a bigger hot unit.

Residential. And would like to be able to do some commercial flatwork.

Ron- Still saving up some money to have everything legal. And then I plan to hit it hard. But I dont want to bite off more than I can chew.

For residential and wood work the chemicals you will need are

Sodium hypochlorite (bleach)
Some sort of surfectant.
Sodium Percarbonate (to clean bare wood)
A stripper (to remove stain)
Either oxalic and citric acid to neautralize the stripper and then brighten the wood.
There are also chemicals to remove black streaks from gutters. A search on this forum will provide information on what to use, and where to get it.

There is a debate on whether to use a bleach mixture or sodium percarbonate to clean wood. Each side has said they get wonderful results. A search on this topic will provide thread upon thread to read and help you make a decision.
