What is your experience with adhesive floor tiles?

You can certainly use them. I have used the adhesive under them too but for a rental just stick them and buy a couple of extra boxes so you have replacements.

We tried the squares over squares overlapping them so the seams would not match up for better adhesion and on hot days they would move when walked on or when people would slide on them.

Same thing for squares over sheet vinyl.

Not sure of the quality that was bought but it was a mess changing them out often.

You can buy clear set adhesive used to install vinyl composition tiles or also known as VCT. You drop your chalk lines on the floor first and have your starting point at a door because you will have the floor covered in the clear set glue when you start to lay the tiles. Clean the floor real well and after putting your chalk lines down take a flat trowel and spread the adhesive all over the floor and let it dry so it's tacky and it will dry clear so you can see your chalk lines through it. Then peel the paper off the tiles and lay em down. Make sure you got the tile where you want it when you lay it in the glue because it will not move once it's in the adhesive. I have done this in a couple of rentals and it works great. The tiles will not move around and depending on the quality of the tile you choose it will last a long time. I have used the peel and stick tiles from HD that look like stone with really good results. Hope this helps

I got tired of replacing them on rentals and went with the commercial grade tiles. 2-tones the colors and they'll look pretty good. Wax them up and they'll shine like crazy.
