Need some help the other day I took a vacation day from my 9-5 job to keep a customer happy that needed several things cleaned by the weekend after the job was finished I had spent a good 15 hours on the job. We had had an agreement of what needed to be pressure washed and I gave her a price for $1075.00 she was happy with the price and I did the work. This saturday she calls ranting and raving about this and that she didn't want this cleaned and so forth and the thing is she had only told me of one thing she did not want cleaned and that particular part didnt get washed. So I call back immeadiatly to solve the problem its been 3 days now no word from her. What do you guys suggest I do in this situation I think I maybe eating this $1075.00 bill.

Did you have anything in writing, ie, a signed estimate or contract for services? Did you take any before and after pictures? If not, and all there is is your word against hers, you might be taking a bath. What was the final word at the end of the telephone conversation? Did she say she was sending the check? If so, give it until the end of a week and mail her a bill. Start a paper trail now and after about 45 days (waiting is gonna suck), send her a firm letter by certified mail. Depending on the laws in your state regarding contracts, you may be able to put a lien on her property for work performed. It's not payment now by a long shot, but nobody wants to have a mechanics or materialmans lien on their property.

Bummer that you have to deal with this. We had to chase payment one time last year.....everybody signs a piece of paper before we start work now regardless - photos are taken of EVERY job. If I ever have to take anyone to court, they'll even have to pay that cost as well.

Thanks, Celeste I just copied all of my emails we wrote back and forth so I have them. I took before photos but the night I got finished it was dark so I didn't get any after photos. I think I am going to lay low until the end of the week and then send another bill. Thanks for the idea in the future I am sure I will have people sign something just to cover me.
