Whats The Best Surface Cleaner for the money???

Lol..when he said he likes his hover on the roof..I tried to stop the madness in its tracks..that led me down the path that he didn't know about the effectiveness of our cleaning soaps on things like roofand concrete cleaning. .dont you just love tangents..josh does your be have the grease fitting? Ive noticed them lasting a few days kinger than the sealed ones.

Yeah, it does. One pump in the fitting per month or so keeps it going strong. Only a few days longer?

Ya dude I had some bad times with those. . More water ended up coming out of the weep hole than the nozzles. .lol. my weep hole is still leaking like a siv...that is..on my swivel. You pushing 8gallons through em?

Yeah, 8 GPM, no problem. When water starts flooding out of the weep hole like that, there is an o ring in the swivel that needs to be replaced. Happens about once a year. Paul K showed me how to do it last year. Pretty simple fix. You can get the o ring at Ace hardware for like $0.15.

Josh, what is/where is the wheep hole)

Oh ya replaced the oring more time then I remember. Also have a pile of bearings we replaced as well...it happens so much I can do it in 5 minutes. .my whisper wash on the other hand..I could drag that swivel from a chain off the back of the truck to every job and it would still work great no leaking and the bearing still not as much slop as my be.

At the bottom of the surface cleaner by the swivel. I'm not sure exactly why it's there, but my guess is so that the whole swivel doesn't explode under pressure when a seal fails.

That's crazy. I did buy mine used from a distributor in Leesburg who had been using it as a rental. He refurbished it before he sold it to me. It's possible that he modified it to make it more durable.

If you are replacing o rings in a BE swivel frequently, the housing may be damaged to the point that it can't hold a new o ring.

That's more than possible. It is probably not good that I'm running heat through them too..lol. There so low cost I don't really take the greatest care. But all three I bought brand new and there was major slop on the bearing and the orings failed within 20 hours of use. I could be to hard on things though I work the hell outta everything.

I'm with Josh on this as I have two BEs and love 'em. They run and run with no trouble.

Josh, thanks for the weep hole answer.

The two most debated things on these boards: surface cleaners and DS/X-Jet!

These are the 2 best kept secrets/tricks of the trade. Had I known how easy it was to change brakes and other vehicle repair, I could have saved Thousands of dollars. Our clients pay for the investment we've made in educating ourselves on these 2 processes!

We will rinse the bottom 1/4 -1/3 of the roof when we are cleaning the fascia/drip edge/bottom tile butt. We rinse with a activator/neutralizer for ones with no gutters. 99% of ours are tile roofs that we walk. .I use 2-3 guys..if you can't spray that roof in an hour you loose alot of business around here. We can only charge at most 300.00 for the roof that size. Some guys adv3rtise 169.00 for everything. .so im happy for what we are getting..we will do 5 a day in season. Welcome to florida..lol
I wish I had a better experience with be..but ive bought 3 of the platic floaters and that one stainless one..they come from the factory with so much slop in the bearing its like a 1/2-3/4 swing on the bar. The plastic of the deck as well becomes sooo brittle it cracks veryyy easy not like whisper. I dont own a whisper anymore..but I do use there swivels..I still have a be but like I say its for the new guys who always break my crap. The swivels in the be have such a small oriface its counter productive to all the plumbing I have done to try and keep 8gpm on the concrete..thats why I like whisper you can drop a pencil down that swivel..you could barely thread a 10 gauge wire through be.

I am sorry but you are not helping this forum or the industry by charging $300 for a 3000sq ft roof. I don't care how long it takes you. Personally I do that same roof in half the time for twice as much. Dont give me it's the going rate stuff as we have uneducated people doing the same thing as your competitors. We (tampa area contractors) have rose above it and risen the standards here in Tampa. The lowballed and beer money guys will always be around but we have made it harder for them and most will choose a true professional over a beer money bandit. Here is one for you to use. Do you get your medical advise from a friend or a true medical professional. Would you get your Rx from the guy driving around in a old ratty pick-up or from the professional pharmacist?

I have the BE 20 inch and hell yea I like it, and that's all that matters.

I bought a blue plastic 20" NorthStar of craigslist. Cost $100. Sat outside for 2 years. Replaced the swivel $80. Worked fine with my 2.4 GPM Simpson from Costco, and even better with my 4 GPM NorthStar Hot or cold unit. Has earned 10x what I paid if not more.

From my experience I have come to replace quite a few Hammerhead and BE swivels with Mosmatic's. Very simple and relatively inexpensive to convert to a high end spinner.

It seems that's where any difference is made. I'm going to try that when I get another machine.

Yeah you can get conversion plates and put a Mosmatic or Whisperwash swivel on just about any deck I imagine. Also could put the Whiperwash bar on any deck I guess. I really like the fixed angle on the spray bar. It runs smooth and balanced.

A complete conversion kit would run about $380, $700 cheaper than the entire sc with the same results. I think we have an answer folks!
