when stripping a deck, siding or fence what do you do about the stain that comes off? i recently did some siding on a two story house. stain came off very easy but made brown sloppy mess in the yard. what do you do about that? what if it was over a driveway or something?

You try to rinse the grass off the best you can same for concrete get it wet first keep it wet and rinse it off. You can try using tarps or plastic but in the hot sun it could burn the grass.

Not much else you can do I've never killed anything the grass will grow back just rinse real good.Plants don't like chems on the leaves that's usually what burns plants.

i wasnt too worried about killing the grass. i explain the potential for that to happen before i start. i just thought that it looked sloppy when i was done with "california rustic" mud at the base of the house

I wound up replacing about 6 pieces of sod because the customer alleged that the stain sealed the soil and now the water has no where to go. It was obviously a muddy sloppy mess before we started but the grass that was there clearly had the old red stain on it. Im not about bickering, I sucked it up and replaced it. Im not even sure how we could have prevented it because everything that fell though the decked drained onto the grass. Taripng wouldnt have helped. Good luck!
