Who won the VP debate in your opinion? Did it change your mind about who you're voting for?

I think they both did alright. Niether party will get my vote but I think Palin did a lot better job last night than in her past interviews.

I think Palin came across as a scripted puppet for McCain... she may be more 'middle of the road american' than the rest of the died-in-the-wool politicians - and more in touch with the 'kitchen-table issues' that the country faces, but the transparent empty rhetoric makes me cringe.

Why can't politicians answer the questions they are asked? On both sides, the last 2 debates have been poor in my opinion... there has been no debate on the issues, just mud-slinging, finger pointing and looking back. Yes, the next President of the US has to have their judgement and track record analyzed... but what are the ACTUALLY going to do and HOW do they plan on doing it? We hear the "CHANGE", 'OLD WASHINGTON POLITICS', 'REFORM', 'MAVERICK',.... but what and how are the questions I would like to see answered.... or do they not know?!

Fact of the matter is, politicians forget that they are ELECTED to represent their constituents - the American People. They are civil servants, in position to represent the people's best interests - not line their pockets and take all the kickbacks they can get. Will they really change this?

John McCain should be applauded for his military history, yes. But 'maverick'?!?!... what is the big issue just now, Tom Cruise in Top Gun... or American Economics, Social Issues, Political System, Foreign Policy and Energy Issues? I think everyone gets the 'nickname', but can you really have that title as part of your campaign and the benefits he offers? How about some substance please?

... and as far as kitchen table politics, really, I don't need my politicians to be in touch with my feelings or hardship - I want them to understand the issue and have the ability and motivation to do something about it.

With regard to Obama and Biden - I like the idea of helping others who are less fortunate, and spreading opportunity... but this country was built on the principles of Individual Liberty, Personal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and the Rule of Law.

The government can't be all things to all people, the government can't make lazy, selfish people into model citizens - socialising everything perpetuates this problem... I know, I come from a country where socialised welfare and healthcare breed more scum who are willing to live cradle to grave off of government handouts and tax-payers efforts.

... sorry, what was the question... lol, I can't even answer questions - I should be a politician!!! :D

Who won? I thought it was pretty even... I would edge towards Biden in how I think he came across - I thought Palin was transparent and it was obvious she had been coached to stick to what she knows and the campaign manifesto.

Steven - I think every person here wished they could say what you just said, and how you said it. lol.

Im a Mccain/Palin supporter, but I agree with everything you just said about her last night. As we were watching it, my wife was like "she is doing soooo good". I said yea for someone who's been studying exactly what to say for a month.

However, she has only been in the national politics for a month, and Bidens been doing it for 35 years. Biden should have killed her in this debate, and I dont think he did. I do however think he came out on top IMO.

I think it was a wash. No real winner or loser. Man I wish one of these debates actually talked about details. They have all become about show and thats it.

I am a Dem and I have watched Biden for a couple decades I always liked him so of course I see her flaws more. Palin, I just can't really stand her folksy talk and Joe 6 pack stuff, it just seems phony to me. Nothing she has said or done since the conventions has made me think she would be any good as a President, VP sure she could be a figure head like many VP's have in the past, but with McCains age, theres always a possibility she could be president at any time. She doesn't have it and I wouldn't want her leading our country

But you know I have reservations, many about Obama I hope he does well if he becomes President. Just pleaseeeeeeeeee not Palin, I could listen to her Hockey mom Alaskan accent without throwing up

For me looking at Palin is way better then looking at any of the other three :D So if I had to look at someone for 4 years it would be Palin.

But I think were in for a rough ride no matter who gets in, We need a Good Man or Women from out side the belt way thats not on the take and I'm afraid from what I see, there will be change and that is CHANGE in our Pockets and the Gov giving us shit sand and telling us how good it tastes.

We will find out soon.

If she would of taken her hair down and glasses off, on public TV she would have gotten the vote of every Joe Six Pack, she is trying to reach out to.

Even better she should have dressed in Camo...LOL

The issue that I have with the debate is... What questions were actually answered? Palin has yet to answer anywhere. She totally skirted the questions. I would have some respect for her if she just looked into the cameras and said " I dont know!".

Biden is clearly more versed in the political process and the background knowledge. He was much better at providing insight into the problems, the solutions to the problems are easier spoken than executed for either side of the ballot.

But the question remains, If either Obama Moma or Insane McCain dropped dead while in office.... Would you want a Joe six pack toten soccer mom running the country with a finger on the button or a Washington insider with years of service and a comprehensive understanding of the political process drinking a six pack running the country with a finger on the button.

As far as solving the economic status, foreign policy and energy crisis in the country as they currently exist, I think it will be difficult for anyone to do it in a 4 year term.

Please be the first person ever to tell me what would make Obama a good president? Or what qualifies him? I can understand why dems do not want palin, but can not for the life of me figure out what is so great about O.

Please clarify the greatness.

I think Palin did a good job, she did alot better than people thought she would. It was like the underdog of football showing up and winning the game.

Scott I will try to explain it to you

Scott its all about Ideology and it really is about change. Many dems don't know if he will be a great President, but how do any of know if anyone will be a great President. None of us know if McCain would be a good president or Bushes would be or that matter Harry Truman or Lincoln there's no way to know until they are in office so we, all of us make decisions on what we hear, what is told to us, what our gut feeling is or yes party line or just you don't want the other guy or party.

Look at it this way McCain picked Palin, do we really know anything about her really but the Republicans are excited about her, she has had some major gaffs can't answer follow up questions in interviews, they weren't trick questions or questions that weren't asked to others, she really avoids answering things. She did a real good convention speech, got the Republicans ALL excited and everyone was behind her 100% Got the republican base all EXCITED and now most republicans are ready to put her a heartbeat away from the presidencies WHY? Do we know if she will be a great President is there something other than her right thinking ways that says she will be a great president. NO we either think or hope she would be a good president, we just don't know.

Now what about this? McCain didn't pick Palin instead he picked a black man with the same or less experience than Obama or Palin and he had a great convention speech like Palin did, and he was on the right of social issues like the Republican party is. WOULD YOU NOT ALL BE cheering and saying he would be a great Vice president and possibly some day a great president? YES the republican party would be behind the Black VP just like they are with Palin. You would think he great like many think Palin is. Why because partisanship and he follows the ideology of the republican party, not because you really know he would be a great republican president

OK Now about Obama. 1st of all most Dems will vote party line just like most republicans do. Once again do we know if Obama will be a great or even just an OK president. No we dont but he follows some of our ideologies and our party line. Do I and every democrat follow every one of his views? No! but does every Republican follow all of McCain?Palins views? No Do you follow all of Bushes views? NO

Now we like Obama because its obvious he is a smart man, He has experience in State government and has experience in national government, he is well spoken and can explain his message pretty well. He is for many things the represent the democratic party. So for us is he a better choice than McCain? YES!

Now I can say the party line sound bites............ Do we want another 8 years of the same Bush policies. Do we want the same old same old republican party running our country? Scott these aren't just sound bites. Democrats REALLY don't want Bush policies or Republican policies. We all hear the same crap but take it in according to our ideologies. You hear and I hear Bush, McCain and the Republican are for the Rich or Big Biz or only want to give tax breaks to the big corps. You and I hear Obama, Clintons & Democrats want Universal health Care, Tax everyone, turn the country into a socialist country. Now you say its bullshit, the Republican are for growth and moral issues and I say Dems are for the working man. Its all about Ideologies and party line.

I do not want more republican control of the Whitehouse I dont like what I have seen in the past 8 years, I haven't like how republicans in my eyes have been on many issues, I dont follow republican ideologies, I dont follow all there social issues so I wont vote republican.

I personally think Obama is a smart man, I think he has some good government experience, I think he has good life experience. I like his choice of Biden, he's a man with experience and Obama picked him for that experience, Do I know if Obam will be a good president or Biden will be? no. Do I think, hope & pray he will be? YES. The same goes for the Republicans and McCain, yes he's been around a long time, but we really dont know if he will be a good prez

So I do not want what I think is the failed policies of Republican rule we think its caused many if not all of the economic problems, we think he has brought us down in world view, We think Bush & republican have made way to many mistakes and we think Obama will CHANGE a lot of that. He will be change its a fact, just because of his ideologies. If Bush wasn't such a failure in many eyes and if Mccain had a better message some dems might vote for him, but by what he has said there wont be much change, we think he is out of touch on the economy and other things so we will go with Obama who has more of our views.

Scott we dont live in a perfect world but we all make choices with our hearts and brains and my heart or brain is going is going with the man & party I think will do a better job

You know something If the Republican put a a good talking Elephant and the Democrats put up a good talking Donkey, we would probably vote for them because they follow our party line. Its sad we really dont always have GREAT choices. This year Democrats think we have at very least a good choice so we are going for New & Change over what we see is the Old and same old same old

I dont know if this really explains why we are voting for Obama. We think he's smart and Change

Fact is that Elephant & Donkey most would just vote for them stickily on party line

Have a good day and life is good and I hope who ever gets in does good for our great country

I say throw them all out and start over and I don't care what party they are with Enough is Enough with all the corruption going and that go's for both sides. Voting Party line is what got us into this mess in the first place.

But voting for a guy that won't even say the pledge to me is insane......

I understand the ideology argument completely.

Heres the problem. Out of your whole spiel above, this was the only thing you said about Obama:

Now we like Obama because its obvious he is a smart man, He has experience in State government and has experience in national government, he is well spoken and can explain his message pretty well.

Thats it. Has had a few years in the Illinois state senate, and 1 year in the Federal senate. And why is it obvious that he is smart?because he went to Harvard or Yale? Ok, he's books smart. Let go to commen sense smart, which is really what comes in Handy (not to deminish book smarts, because obviously GW does not have them and they would have served him well). He sat in a church with a racist america hater for 20 years. He went to the million man march. "Our troops are aerating villages and killing civilians". One of his campaign fund raisers and long time friend is William Ayers. Would it be ok if Mccain was buddys with David Duke?

The economy? Clinton started this downfall, and Bush has proceeded to let it happen. Barney Frank was the overseer of Fannie and Freddie, and encouraged the lending practices. Actually went along with ACORN in their threats to sure of the loans wer not made available. Yea the dems are great on the economy.

Now lets talk about Palin. Is she well versed on national Issues. Not so much. But, she has been a Mayor, and a Governor. That alone qualifies our VP to be president more than either of the dem candidates. She has a 83% approval rating. Absolutely no dirt has been found on her, and thats why questions like "can she raise 5 kids AND be president" keep coming up. Just looking for things to nail her on, and they cant (as opposed to Obama).

Bottom line, Each of our candidates individually have more of a record for change and reform, and have more experience, than both of the democratic candidates combined. When a Company fires a CEO they dont hire the kid that just came out of college to take his place, just because he promises to change. Its too much of a gamble. And thats exactly who Obama is. The kid who just graduated college and it trying to be CEO.

Niether of our minds will be changed, I am just sick of "change. Experience. blah blah" When he, nor Biden have ever shown any change at all. Unless its means being for the war before he was against it. I guess thats Change. I guess you can CHANGE history when you say Obama didnt say he would meet Foreign leaders without pre-conditions. I guess you can CHANGE your mind about whether Obama is ready to be president within a matter of months. If thats the change people want, we're in for a long 4 years.

Hopefully we are in for a good 8 years

You think McCain will run after this term? :D He might not make it 8 years...LOL

No McCain probably wont make it 8 years but I heard he has it his Will if he dies they are to hire a taxidermist and have him stuffed so he can run again in 2016 for President. I got to give it to McCain he doesn't give up :p LOL

Thats just wrong LOL

I've been reading McCain campaign is going to get real nasty right after Tuesdays Presidential Debate and he going to go for Obamas throat on Tuesday. I guess if you can't win on issues and that mean old liberal media is against you, you might as well be mean, old & nasty Thats a good way to change Washington:rolleyes:
