Will this work?

Hello everyone,

So heres the deal,

I am finding that doing roofs is requiring between 10 and 15 gallons of SH per roof. (30 gallons total when mixed with water.) Currently I am purchasing it in 5 gallon containers and mixing it into a 55 gallon drum with the water. This is becoming a pain! and it is a lot cheaper to purchase a 55 gallon drum of SH instead of 5 gallons. I am looking to set up a system in my truck, and was wondering if this diagram will work. The only question that I have is that since SH is heavier than water (10 pounds per gallon vs. 8.64 for water), will the pump draw from both containers equally? Is anyone else using a simular set up or am I looking at it the wrong way? Any suggestions? If you dont want to post here, please email me at purepressure@windstream.net.

Thanks

No, but it should be close enough to still give you a strong enough mix to clean a roof.

Why not just use the pump to transfer what you need into your mixed drum from the SH drum and use the SH drum for back-up/storage of SH, then you'll know exactly what your mix is again?

Pulling straight Chlorine into a pump is a good way to make it die sooner.
And, it is pretty slow transfering, unless one has a high GPM pump.

The BEST way to do this is to pull from the top of each tank into a Y.
One will have to play with it a bit, but the ratio of draw can be simply varied by merely changing the length of ONE of the two feed lines going into the tanks.

All things being equal, the longer feed line will draw less.

So, simply vary your feed line length to the Chlorine tank only until you get the draw you wish.

This line must either be longer, or else a smaller diameter, so you suck up less Chlorine.

Once you get it right, it will always be right!

Lets say you find a hise diameter, orlength for shingle roofs ?

IF you come across a tile roof, or a filthy shingle roof, simply insert a pre determined longer, or larger diameter hose on the chlorine side of your pump!

This will increase draw, and strengthen the mix.

One old student of mine actually has 3 different hoses on a switchable manifold type arrangement, and can almost vary his mix at will!

BTW, the water side should also contain TSP mixed in with it.

I suggest a straier on the water side ONLY, to prevent undissolved TSP from getting sucked into your pump.

Contrary to what you may have heard, there is no comparasion to a roof done with TSP added to your mix.

We set our chem tank a little higher than the water tank and let gravity feed the love to the desired ammount , then add tsp and soap while water is filling/mixing. What you are thinking about will work , but not exactly how you think it would. We always mix ours first so we know exactly how much we are using.
