I want to thank you in advance. I have googled until my fingers are numb and can't find or recognize if I found a wiring diagram. I have a skid mount PW with an 18 hp Kohler. It has a wayne burner MSR-DC. I took off the burner to clean the coil. However, I never marked the wires. (I thought I would remember, but I took 2 months to put it back together.) I could really use some help. I have given the wires numbers so if someone could tell me to put, for example 1 and 2 together, I will understand. So here goes: From the engine/battery/alternator into a junction box, I have a red-1, black-2, and purple-3. From the igniter, I have red-4, black-5. I have a ground-6 with one end attached to the casing of the ignitier. From a plug looking thing, there is a white-7 and orange-8. From the burner motor, there is a black-9 and white-10. Again, thank you.

You're very welcome. Feel free to call if you need anything.

Yes! I'm sorry that didn't get conveyed. The burner fired up like a charm. Russ... you are...(how do they say it?) the man! Another question. My ignitor went coput. I have saved the dead ignitors...about 4 now. Is there someway to fix them or should I just throw them away. Also, is there someway to check them without hooking them up, turning on the machine, and putting a screw driver across the leads? thanks

If your motor and igniter are wired to stay on you can 1) hear the spark hissing 2) If it's dark or shady enough you can look through the fan and see the glow 3) Lift the lid just a little and you will really be able to see if the spark is going.

Thanks Tom. There is no fire light I can see so it must be dead. Is there some way to fix broken igniters or just throw them away? And Russ, I don't need to jump it. It starts right away as soon as I get the choke right. Is there some way to test the alternator or any other way to check the voltage? All I have is a multimeter. (I also have my barefeet and a bucket of water to stand in)

LOL that's a bit extreme. If the engine key starts alright, the charging system is doing what it's supposed to. Does your ignitor have an electric eye mounted under it with 2 yellow wires going to it? Some 12 volts use a flame sensor to disconnect the ignitor after a flame is established. Some have them, some don't. Sometimes the relay that controls the ignitor fails, and the ignitor doesn't work at all.

If yours is not this case, then, yeah, your ignitor is toast. There's no fixing them...just replacement.
