Worst of the Worst pressure washing Damage

This is absolutely the worst I have ever seen on a center. I will not reveal many details on this one until everything is final or at least resolved. What i can say is this is not being done by a professional.

a few more

the area up next to the windows has had the cream removed totally in front of several of their major stores. I guess they decided to try and blend it in and make it all look alike

the last of them,

What is your response to this type of work thats being done in your areas?

How do you handle this as a professional contractor?

This is something we can all learn from when we see this and how its handled with the PM means the world to you and weather you get the account? What will you do?

Maybe more of this is whats needed to wake up these P/M and get them to realize that you get what you pay for !!!!!!!

This is what happens when they try to take a contractor in one area of expertiese and make them do other services for a property. Whats next is I will be buying a lighting truck, sweeper, and parking lot stripper as well if they have their ways

I want to know what size nozzles they were using. It almost looks like they were using zero degree nozzles!

That is some bad work but not just the guy cleaning the concrete but the company that poured it. Looks very weak to me.

The bad news is I've seen worse.

First thing I do when bidding a project is I always take before pictures, especially of all the previous damage done. This not only will help you sell the job, but will also cover you a*# after your first cleaning.

I did a medical center about a month ago. Once the flatwork was completed, the previous damage was just that more outstanding and visible. Needless to say, the PM wasn't happy at all. I compared the before and after pictures with her to show the damage, although not as evident, was present before the cleaning. Unfortunately I know of no technique to restore concrete flatwork once the cream has been destroyed by hack work, short of an epoxy coating.

Ok my question is what actually causes the damage to the concrete. Im fairly new and have seen damage like this at some of the locations that I have visited. Is it being to close with the wand. what about the surface cleaner swirl marks. Was it caused by leaving the surface cleaner in one spot for to long. just curious.

Many times this kind of damage is caused by people feeling that the only way / proper way to remove gum is by pressure. The tip will be near or on the ground and then you have wand damage like you see above. As yes, leaving the sc in the same place will cause the circles.

That is some major damage.

I too have caused damage to new concrete (2 years old) with a 3 arm surface cleaner and 1503 nozzles,.. pump head at 3000psi though 200ft of 1/2 hose.

However with the same setup above at other properties this works great even in repaired sections of concrete.

Its best to test an area for any new account or new section of concrete of an existing account.

Its nice to have the height adjustable surface cleaners for this reason, no need to change nozzles

I wish someone could identify the fluid dynamics of high pressure nozzles,... impact force at different angles and height, temp reduction from expansion etc, that would be a great tool.
