Would You Hire A Fleetwasher That Said He Could Wash 75 Day Cabs In 3 Hours?

I've Read Some Older Post And The Quality Had To Be Just Wonderful.hahahahaha. I Do Hope That New Washers Don't Read This And Think That All Fleet Washers Are Like This. I'm Sure That Acct. Was Real Happy And If They Were, I Need To Move To That State. Warning. Don't Try This With Your Acct.

Sorry to burst your bubble, this is very common. One guy soaping with hot water, two guys brushing corner to corner and another guy rinsing, one guy pulling the truck up, probably more like two hours.

I See, That Explains Alot, We Have Alot Of Company's Around Here That Think They Have To Load Up On Chrome And It Makes Our Job Alot More Difficult. I Would Kill To Have Dull Trucks, Fed Ex Was As Close To That As I Have Ever Had But They Only Wanted Washed 1 Time A Month. No Thanks. One Word Bugsssssssss.

thats funny, i actually washed for fed ex too, and once a month, lots of bugs. too much driving though, I had an accident one night in louisiana, my spare tire fell off my rig and went through a truck full of mexicans windshield and put some of them in a hospital. I quit shortly after that. It was terrible. The worst part, none of them spoke a lick of english and I never even got a ticket for it. That was several years ago.

Yea Fed Ex Ask Me To Start Recovery And I Bailed. The $ Was'nt Right For That And There Are Too Many Company's On Gravel Lots That Do Not Require It. I'm Not Interested In Ever Recovering.

same here, probably a bad decision to quit them, it took a couple years getting work to replace that account. I had two states. We were set up to recover but your right, the money just wasnt there.

Oh Wow, I Just Had A One Location.i'm Sticking To Smaller Local People And Enjoy It Much More , Well I'll See Ya I Have A Seven Year Old Girl Dying To Get On The Comp. So Holla Back On A Private Message Sometimes And We Will Tell Some Lies Or Start Some Rumors.

Sorry BMC! I agree with JMSC, it can be done. It can even be done two-stepping with 5 guys in 2 hours or less, and they look good when you walk away, something you can be proud of. Of course, the longer the intervals between washing slows down how fast you can go thru them!

Of course that could be done with the right people, equipment and soap.

I saw several jobs where two guys did the washing and one applied the acid/degreaser when needed and they did 40 pieces in 1hr 45min on several jobs and they were dirty.

By myself I did regular cargo trailers from the small to the enclosed horse trailer at a trailer store that had mud all over them after the tornado came through and with a helper just moving hoses, I washed 46 of those trailers in 3 hours. So that shows you it can be done, just need a couple more people.

It sure is amazing how people think something can't be done and they don't want to believe it is possible since they can't do it.

Years ago people thought it took 2-6 hours to wash a house and scrub the gutters. I do them by myself in 2 hours or less for most 2 story 3000sq.ft. homes.

That is why these bbs's are here, to educate and inform everyone of the new ways, new chems and to help each other.

I guess by coming here and talking bad about someone's methods or how fast they work maybe you think that makes you cool or something????

Wrong....... It just shows how closed minded you are and many, many people laugh at you but do not tell you.

Do yourself a big favor and try to learn from these people. Most will help if you do not try to offend them or say negative things about them or how they work in disbelief.

I am sure you will learn a lot of things here if you open your mind and eyes.

I guess you think it is not possible to do 500 decks per year???
A few guys out here do that many and more every year.

I guess you think that nobody can clean/strip and brighten a 500 sq.ft. deck in under 2 or 3 hours? It is done every day of the week when the weather is good. And....they typically seal that deck in under 2.5 hours also.

Be open minded here and you will learn a lot.

If you are not here to learn, make friends and help then why are you here?

just wondering what kind of GPM PWs are you guys using to get that fast?

We run 8 GPM per gun...Not sure what everyone else is using. It's nice because you can wash about as fast as you can walk. You don't have to sit and wait to apply chemical. I'm anal regarding my rinsing so I probably rinse a little more than necessary but that's OK with me!

IF two guys did this, who rinsed? Either way, that's moving for two guys!

I see this all the time. Sometimes I think we all get stuck in a rut with our wash procedures and we stop looking at ways it can be done better/more efficient.

We can't expect to know everything when we're first starting out. It takes time to develop our personal "system" for washing, and info from people who've already experienced failures and successes in our business can help a great deal if we're willing to listen.

Blaine, they use a soap that can dry on the surface without any problems.

They soap/wash then rinse.

This is the way they have done it for many, many years and it is a great system.

Tell us about your system if you don't mind.

That would never work up here where things get dirty. You southern guys are kinda spoiled! We've designed a 2 step cleaning system where your changes are made right at the gun, and what's cool about it is that your chemicals are still at pressure, not low pressure like other downstreaming systems. So, if you missed part of that wheel, or you need to hit something twice to break the filth loose, you can do it quickly and easily right at your gun without waiting for your chemicals to run all the way thru your hose again. We also custom-build wash trucks with 1500 gallon tanks that run three of these wash guns at the same time so a person can really get some washing done in a short amount of time. It makes what is traditionally a labor-intensive, physically demanding job A LOT EASIER and one that a person can make good money at relatively quickly!

We used run a set up just like yours Blaine. We had a high pressure down streamer right at the gun with a 3 way valve and two chem hoses running back to the tanks. It is a good way to run things and fast. But we recently returned to only carrying one hose and we low pressure acid and upstream soap. Both work good.
