What is the best cleaner for mold removal on vinyl siding? I used simple green today on one house with my 3300 psi machine and it barely touched it. I also have a 4000 psi 4 gpm trailer unit, but I had to use my 3300 to get to the back of the house due to my 100' house isn't here yet

Is there anything stronger to use?

I can't believe you would ask a question like that. You seem to be in the business and should know how to wash a home. But apparently you don't. And Russ is really trying to get you in trouble using the chems he suggested. I would suggest you get an 8 gpm hot water washer and a zero degree tip. That should remove the mold. You have got to be kidding.

OH MY GOD I Dont want to rain on anyones parade or spoil the fun bc it is funny but before you put a nice hole in someones house You can Get Some Chlorine From A Pool Supply store and some simple cherry from http://www.pressuretek.com and like I said The only reason Im telling you this is out of consideration For the homeowners house your going to Screw up if you dont use the right methods That is still a pretty ignorant question due to the fact that you own a pressure cleaning business and you dont know what chemicals to use to clean with Im new to this forum and owning my own business but im not new to pressure cleaning. You should know these kind of things before you start a business its things like that that will make this industry look bad. sorry again for spoiling the fun:speechless:

I don't do many houses, I do mostly commercial propertys (store fronts, sidewalks, garages, and fleets), I just started doing houses due to I'm starting to get calls for it.
@Andy
I guess you came out of the womb knowing everything on pressure washing houses?

Just because someone asks a question it doesn't mean they have no clue, maybe they (me) could be finding a better solution to do the job

If that being the case Im sorry For jumping down your throat I dont believe I know everything thats why Im here is to learn just like many others Im sure even the veterans are learning as far as siding goes you dont want to put a ton of pressure on it and you dont want to blow water up underneath it you basically want to soak it and rinse it down dont use your pressure to clean it Down here in florida we have alot of stucco houses I dont know about where your at Ive lived in vermont and mass before and dont recall seeing to many but down here the paint can get real chalky and you have to be carful as far as putting pressure on them as well bc you will leave lines all through out due to removing chalk in some spots vs others and you also have to be cautious of peeling paint off as far as the simple cherry goes Ive never used it Im new to that as well I just ordered some and Im waiting for it to come in and the chlorine The best Ive found is going to a pool supply company that has a tank and I can get 2.5 gals for like 3 bucks vs ace hardware that is right up the street from me that wants 20$ for 5 gals which is complete BS

Oh and sorry I forgot to add this in there When your using bleach make sure you rinse down all the plants around the house before you start during and after that stuff will burn them plants up and as far as what I told you I could be doing it all wrong and if thats the case Im sure someone will chime in and tell me so these are just things that have worked for me

Its ok not to know everything about PW. But! before you ask a question like that again hit the search link. There is tons of info there. That should be your first step. good luck and Welcome!

@Saument, no worries, Like I mentioned, I don't do many houses more commercial, and the houses I've done simple green actually worked like a charm and is plant safe which the homeowners in my area love. Also, the siding on houses are different, some are textured, some are smooth, and some are just odd so there are some that has mold in the "texture" of the siding and doesn't come off as easy.

I learn everyday, that's how I succeed. I owned a software company for 10 years and learned something new everyday, so running a business and learning something everyday is nothing new to me. I do the powerwashing at nights and weekends for the commercial stuff but now I'm getting calls for houses this summer so, I'm starting down that road.

I'd rather ask questions and look "dumb" instead of not asking and destroying a house and look bankrupt. :)

@Saument,

I'd rather ask questions and look "dumb" instead of not asking and destroying a house and look bankrupt. :)

Now I like that quote!!!
That is much better than the quote
"there is no such thing as a dumb ?"
Kudo's for not being afraid to ask!!
Good luck...ps I do mostly res...let me know if you need some help.

Yes that is a good point it is better to ask than cause damage and like joe said the search button is great theres been a number of times I was getting ready to post a ? and decided to search and found tons of info and as far as resi goes jump on it its just more $$$

Thanks Al and Saument, you guys been great and helpful, thanks. Yeah right now I'm getting more calls for res this summer then I have since I've been in business, however, I never really advertised to res until this spring, though I'm not getting all the jobs I quote for res, I just want to be prepared for the ones I do get.

What seems simple to us might not be to others....
the other post I made about the homeowner trying to wash his driveway with a rented HD unit and didn't even know that a nozzle went on the end of it and was wondering why it wasn't cleaning....
even him I did not ridicule him and make his look dumb.

I think the biggest thing is that there are so many versions of cleaners out there, its picking the correct one and with the homes I'm going to for quotes, the first question out of their mouth is "what chemicals are you using and are they environmental safe",
so I'm looking for safe products but products that clean as they advertise. I used one product on my own home (1 side of it) that didn't do anything though it advertised to clean mildew and it didn't touch it, I used another product that advertised the same and it did wonders, and with so many styles of siding, from smooth to textured, I'm trying to find one that works as advertised as well as it being plant safe and evironmentally friendly so the homeowners are at ease.

I understand what your saying I have bought a few other things But it seems as if they are diluted they are not effective and for 10$ a gallon youll go broke lol so I stick with my bleach just reassure them that If that chemical is used properly that it will not harm the vegetation around the home besides it does get diluted through downstreaming if thats how you apply it ive stuck my injector into a straight jug of chlorine before and never had any problems as far as burning stuff up I believe and average injector is set to 10.1 but not 100% Im a painter Full time until I get my thing going enough to go on my own We painted a whole cruise Terminal out at port canaveral and the specs called for tsp no bleach so we mixed it with some laundry detergent lol and the tsp it removed the mold but in my opinion Bleach would have worked much better They just didnt want all that Sh*t going into the ocean

Al it seems you require a pat on the back for staying on much higher ground than most.
Are you saying we made him look dumb? Really?
He is a licensed contractor in the pressure washing business. Cleaning Homes, not dog houses with a 3300psi machine and simple green. The only reason he did not use a higher PSI machine is because he did not have a 100' hose. WTH..
The reason he did not know how to properly clean a home is because he mainly does commercial and commercial must not require a long hose. With those big open parking lots where you can just move the truck. I guess. I'm not saying anyone is dumb and I will do my part to help anyone at anytime. But, for someone pretending to be in the business.
That was a stupid question.
I get my ass kicked by people every week that don't spend the money on chemicals, advertising and equipment that I do.
Boy, get your ass out of bed. Go to Home Depot get you a ladder, a pressure washer and some simple green. Then stick a magnetic sign on your truck. You go knock on some doors. You will be a pro in no time.

@Andy, what's you issue? All I did was ask a question, and you make it into a HUGE thing, so is it safe to say your a pro and been a pw pro since birth? So I can assume you never asked questions on chem, equipment, etc? Just because you spent thousands on equipment doesn't make you a pro. I can spend a millon on equipments but it doesn't make me an expert. No one is an expert in anything.

I have 2 machines, a 4000 psi 4 gpm skid mount loaded in my trailer and I also have a 3300 psi portable that I use as well, I also have a surface cleaner as well as a
24' wand.

I do do advertise, network, knock on doors, etc.

I'm not sure I'm taken what your writing the wrong way but dude, come 'on

You are correct. I am. From the womb since birth. I was born with safety goggles on and a pair of rubber boots.I didn't just wake up smart. According to my wife I have always been that way. The smell of SH makes me horny. What else could I answer for you today?
