Water Powered Sump Pump

AZ PowerWash Pros

New member
We are currently cleaning around 10 pools a month for a foreclosure clean up company in Phoenix. We purchased a water powered sump pump to pump the water out the bottoms of the pool. It is really cool. It hooks up like a nozzle to the front of the wand and then sucks the water out when you pull the trigger!

Check it out: http://pressurewashingphoenix.co/2010/11/acid-washing-pools-in-phoenix/

That's a really good idea.

So you acid wash the pools? I would think sodium hypochlorite would work better? Hmm never done a pool before so just wondering.

This pool did not need acid. And majority that we have done we have not needed any acids just hot water. But I have learned that when people are searching online for these types of services they use the search phrase "acid washing pools". We muriatic acid when we have to.

On older pools with plaster be careful, Plaster doesnt like too much heat or pressure...

A trash pump would save you tons of time.....Drop the line in the pool, go to the truck eat lunch. Come back and the pool will be empty...

Haha. We pump all the water out with a pump before we start cleaning the inside. We come back from lunch clean the inside and then sump pump out the water used from cleaning the insides. It is the best way to make sure you got all the green out the pool. You can even clean the last of it with the sump pump connected. When you lower the pressure through the dual lance you can still spray with light pressure.

In the Phoenix area most municipalities require you pump into the sanitary sewer. Just so you know, I have pumped as many as three pools a day this year.

Scott, we pump it all out into the sanitary sewer. Most homes have a sanitary sewer connection. Its black usually in the front under rocks in every home in Phoenix...

I know that, but not every home has one. If it was built before 1990 a clean out was not required.

When you pump out the pools, are you charging your normal rate per hour or just giving a flat rate based on so many hours?

I was thinking of using a trash pump also then finishing with my sump pump.

Pumping all into the sanitary sewer.

Thanks.

I charge per gallon. Area, time depth, times 7.5. That way you don't get taken advantage of on getting just large pools.

We just charge a flat rate per pool because they give us 10 a month. Normally, I would have to see the pool and then quote them a price based on labor hours. All of our water is pumped out into a sanitary sewer every time.

Better be careful, check with the citys...some actually do not want it.
