2013 My Last full Year Went Amazing!!!!!!

6 Months Left JUNE 1 Its all OVEr
It will never truly be over for you big boy. It's in your blood. I for one am not looking forward to you retiring but I know you've earned it and I'm really happy that you are close to this milestone in your life. We'll talk about it again in 6 months!

We had a great year this year, our first full year in the business. Added several commercial accounts and learned a boatload of info both from experience and from reading the boards. Going to push the residential side harder next year. Looking forward to next year. 2014 is going to be awesome!

Steven will Talk Next month in FL
Best year yet - more revenue from larger one-time jobs with existing customers. Invested a lot in equipment with growth. BUT, didn't add as many maintenance accounts as I would have liked us to.

Yep, best year yet. I didn't quite meet my goal, but net was up, and gross was acceptable.

I spent the last two years in kindof a holding pattern back to experimenting with how to deal with problem areas and working on issues that come up in other parts of the country. I've also been laying the foundation for expansion into other areas.

As a consequence of failing to replace accounts we lost from closures, bankruptcies and in one case, the demolition of the buildings, we are down over $40k this year. Didn't notice it until a couple of months ago. That's what happens when you disconnect yourself from the day to day operations without keeping an eye on numbers.

Don't let it happen to you! Keep an eye on it!

It February we take on another large account from existing customer. If it was not existing I wouldn't even think about it.

I'll elaborate but it's around a 22,900 a month account. One place!!

Our revenues have steadily increased every year since starting in 2008. 2013 revenues looks to end up another 22% but our expenses have increased by about the same amount this year as I transitioned the company from me doing the work to my employees now doing 90%+ of the work. In 2014, I hope to add a roof cleaner and add or promote a team leader that I can trust completely where I don't even have to be on the job site allowing me to focus on growing sales. Also, 2013 is the first year that we did NO advertising or marketing. Only word-of-mouth, repeat clients, referrals, prospects seeing our signed-up rig while working jobs, and website led to our 2013 revenues. In the past we advertised in magazines, newspapers and a lot of post cards, just not in 2013.

2014 should be special as I hope to add a second rig while updating to 8 gpm units and a better roof setup. The company also is expected to win the largest revenue job in company history this week with the largest profit margin. The job will take up most of February which is usually a slower month for me which will really kick off 2014 and allow me to add the additional equipment that I just mentioned (perhaps even join the UAMCC!!). We just won a county utility dept job for January that will kick us off even better. Now, if I can just get this backlog of work done before Christmas as it's been a tough month after breaking a few ribs from a fall 4 weeks ago!

One day Ron, one day...

2013 has been the best since 2007 for us. One lesson I learned is that each year we were growing and when the economy bottomed out we, like most, were forced to really look over our operations and not only trimming fat and cutting expenses but also in growing the top line. With my back ground I should have known better but I was wasting dollars that should have been going to the bottom line and I took advantage of sales increases that I did not practice all that I had learned in running a business. The economy made me re-focus and implement the practices I had learned in the past, sort of like hitting a reset button. Now as we move forward we see a higher percentage hitting the net profit line. I wasted a lot of money not keeping "the screws tightened." The lesson would be is to not get too comfortable in your business, it can be a big mistake. We have done very well through the down economy but being objective and critical of myself and my company this would be my assessment. Looking forward to 2014!
