$25 per hour?

I guess that depends on how you define billable hours...
I can think of a few ways to make $25/hr profitable! I would just use the old 2 out of 3 offer: good, fast, cheap!
Good and fast requires expensive equipment and is not an option. So, fast and cheap is your best bet, however good and cheap is a way to go. You do good work at a low hourly rate, but you spend all week at it!

Well, it's good to hear Jim's still alive and kicking!

However, i happen to know that he's no hack. Afterall, his moto is "Clean Sells", ya know?

Maybe he's just trying to scronge up some spare change to pay-off that $60K rig of his...

Who knows???

BTW - I don't know about the rest of you, but i can't even justify starting my rig up for less than $50

Its almost impossible to be a hack with $60K worth of equipment. That is really not my concern. The lowest I have ever gone hourly is $65.00 per hour. So I guess either some people don't know what they can get per hour or I am charging to much. We average about $75-$100 per hour easy. What is the average out there? I would like to keep that number high.

I'm sure he doesn't really charge that... If people really knew what we made per hour they would flip out, no way they thing squirting a sidewalk is worth much more than that add. I do a minimum of $125 per hour, I like to try and hit around $150 but that's not always possible. That's just work time though, I'm not counting any drive time.

Cant do it. Our break even rate is $40 an hour per man. Thats 640 bucks a day(break even) Most of the time they bring in 1500-2500 a day per crew.

I am 100% certin that he is no hack. He has one of the nicest rigs I have seen ( in pics). He hasn't posted here in a awhile. I wish he would post. His post were always very informative and with great detail. Last I can remember he steped down from a monitor on another board, with intentions of expanding his business to multiple states.
I hope he is doing well.......Come back Jim, I have learned alot from what he has shared here with us.

Am I missing something here?

It looks like he is looking for a specialist to hire in that dollar range, at least that is what it looks like to me but I could be wrong.

Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain. Things are not always as they appear, or as a poster makes them out to be.

BTW, I am not talking about anyone posting in this thread.

Could be Christopher, that was my first thought too...the ad is in the "services offered" "skilled trade services". Hard tot ell. Pretty sure Jim doesn't work that cheap.

I knew something wasn't right. The ad just looked so real so for a second I thought he was really charging these prices. But you are right Scott, it makes more sense that it is smoke and mirrors. I am going to call it that and forget I ever saw it! I started thinking I should sub him out for these prices! jk haha

No chance he is really charging $25 bucks and I'm glad to hear no one else does... Gotta get back to making $100 an hour!

That ad is what it is and I'm not sure Scott meant what you think he meant Ty. This ad is not for hiring an employee.

This morning the latest ad says it says EPA / CWA Cerified (I guess that's supposed to be "certified") at the bottom of the ad.

So what part of this is acceptable?

The fact that it is advertising an impossible rate? (unless one is just about to fold) Are we now entering the world of the Duct Cleaners and carpet cleaners ANY ROOM CLEANED FOR $1 LOLOLOL!

Or is it acceptable to claim to be "certified" by the EPA, as if there is any such thing?

Since when does a successful contractor have to resort to trickery to sell services? Especially one who repeatedly belittled those of us who do actually do commercial work for daring to do it for less than his "8 cents per foot minimum".

Maybe Scott meant that someone is putting on the smoke screen of being a huge successful contractor when really it's a bunch of debt on wheels. It certainly wouldn't be the first time. There's another "environmental" contractor NorthWest of him who has a lot of you guys bamboozled and starry eyed too and it's all a show.

I guess we'll find out if a lot of that $60k of equipment shows up on Craigslist for sale. Get your wallet ready Ty!

$100/$125 an hour is just about right across the nation, I am sure we all have our home run days where we double or even triple that rate.

Nope, from what I understand, having a father pass away helps ones debt load.
