can a broken hose be fixed

Hydro,
Take the hose to a shop that makes hydraulic hoses. They should be able to help you. Look in the yellow pages.

Yes, but it will most likely break again. Once they start doing that it's all downhill from there..........

Hydro,
If the hose is quite old I would agree with Mike. I some how thought this was a pretty new hose and if that is the case it should work.
I know that several of the distribitors sell a repair end. I have not tried any myself though.

If a shop will not repair the hose, and a lot won't due to liability, try a reusable end. You will need to get the end of the hose in good enough shape for you to get the outer end casing of the end over, but screw it on, and then screw in the inside part. It is a really tight fit to get these things on, and is not really easy, but it will last.
A couple of hints:
1. When you are putting on the outer part, have the inner part screwed in a couple of threads, and screw the whole thing in. It will "guide" itself into the hose that way.
2. If you use some sort of silicone spray, it will sometimes make it easier.
3. Big Bolt cutters are the easiest way to cut a hose in the field, without a cutoff saw. A hacksaw does work, jsut make sure the blade is sharp and fine toothed.

Good luck

hose ends

I have had a couple of hose ends put on my hoses from Northern that are more than 2 years old. I have had no prob with any of them. One was repaired and run the same day for 15 hours at 200 degrees and is still in service (8 months). I have them repaired at a local gas company. They always tell me "I dont think this will hold too long" but they always do. Good Luck...

I fix my at NAPA for $5 ,never had a problem yet.I just ruined 2 new hoses, drag the ground for a mile, they were good ones too,2 wire.Never again ,i learn from mistakes, hose reel is on the way!!!
I always have them neat on my trailer but when hit a big bump, and its all over

Hose repair

Reusable hose repair kits are available for R1 and R2 hoses. They are stronger than crimped ends and you can repair hoses in the field with a hack saw and cresent wrenches.
