Downstream injector mystery

I'm running a robokim #2 downstream chem. injector on a 3500 psi/4.5gpms with a dual lance wand and it will not draw any chemicals even at the lowest pressure (no nozzle). But it does suck briefly as soon as I squeeze the trigger, but only for a second.
I've had it apart and there is no obstructions..
I put compressed air throught the injector when I had it off and it will drawn no chemicals no-prob.
What the??????

How much hose are you running? Take all the hose off and see if it will draw.

I am running 150' of hose and I just cut it back to 50' and the injector works fine. But how can I rectify the problem using 150' of hose?

After you check the hose like mentioned above you can check the following...

Inside the barb there is a spring that holds the check ball in position. If the spring is gone it will cause the ball to get sucked up tight to the inlet port. Make sure that the spring is between the ball and the body of the injector. Also you may want to check the orifice itself, if it is not installed tight in the body or backed out slightly that can effect draw as well.

Also be sure the injector is installed the correct directing, if it came with quick connects different manufactures set theirs up different ways. The flow will always be through the removable orifice side first then out the other side.

Thanks Guys. All orifices are clear. Flow direction is correct. Seems maybe too much back pressure with 150' of hose. But 50' of hose length doesn't cut it for me.

You could try an injector rated for less gpm and get more pull. A lot of people do this. I use the fixed injector from pressure tek and 150 ft hose and it pulls chems like crazy.

Yes the next size down should work on 150' quite well I use a 2.1 on about 200'. Check you gun too a gun with a larger ball in it will allow for less back pressure and better draw.

I switched to the next size down and had the same results. Couldn't believe how much more it pulled.

Was there any noticable decrease in pressure or flow at the end of the wand dropping down one size?

Buy a Hi Draw injector and make sure your gun is at least 12 gpm. A whip line between pump and injector helps, too.

Allison Super Sud Sucker (Envirospec). Problem solved. Or Russ has a awesome downstream injector also (I don't own one [yet] but you can't beat Russ's service, cost and customer service,

From what I've read about Russ I don't doubt you at all. But does he ship all the way to Canada?

You should probably ask Russ himself. Better hurry up and order, or he'll have to have the ice road truckers deliver it to you.

Good one Jim! I want Lisa to bring mine to me, way better to look at than all the others:jester:

Thats a great show too.

By the way, as far as an 8gpm machine, will a 2.3 draw chems at 300 feet? I have never tried it as of yet.

If not I need to call Russ too!:slap:

10+ Once you've experienced the sucking of the Allison Super sucker, you'll never go back.

Okay, that comment does not sound good at all. Is this the part where I need a good attorney ?????

300 feet would be a streach for a standard injector, a robochem or super suds sucker should work for you though Russ.
