Just recently rented a place to a friend that I was trying to help.
I knew he had drug history but wanted to give him a break.
He ended up staged a break in, stole and did not pay any rent.
If I really wanted to help him, I should have encourage him not to do drugs
And rewarded him for not doing them by letting him have a place to stay.
A mandatory drug test would him stay accountable and give me the peace of mind
That I would not regret helping him.
If I say I don’t think its right to cuss, drink or do drugs….I don’t suspect anyone who
Does these things are going to agree with me. But that’s alright too, I can live with that.
If it was wrong back in the day its wrong now…God's word don’t change.
Al, where is the biblical imperative that we, as Christians "reward" other adults who are enslaved like one would reward a good dog with a biscuit. I only know of one who dared take on that role and neither of us are him.
Did Abraham hold a carrot in front of Lot to get him to straighten out?
What about the prodical son?
How did Judas live among the apostles?
Shelly and I have lived in Vegas for about 15 years. We have only lived alone or with Fayth or six months, otherwise someone has been living with us under the shelter of this wonderful roof God provided for us. Some of those long term guests have been drug addicts. Some were thieves and some were any of a number of other things. Whatever they took from us was quickly replaced by the Lord and on a greater scale.
I am not trying to change anybody's mind here. But in my house and business everybody gets a chance to get a taste of the freedom that comes through Christ.
If they won't accept it that is their choice as an adult.
Some of the best workers I have ever had were enslaved at one time. As was I. I am not going to play God and deny them a chance before they get a chance to see how freedom looks.
I understand that some of you live in parts of the country where drug testing is looked upon as mandatory. Luckily I live in a libertarian state and its never been mentioned even with federal contracts.
Every one has to do what they have to do, I guess. I'm just explaining my position.
