can properly diluted hf clean stainless as well? is there a product that can treat both well.
and to all of you posting looking for info, the search function works well and will gives you plenty of info. personally i post and read and compare the answers that ive found with the ones you handed to me. if you are going to post something on a public forum you need to expect all kinds of responses. if you get something you dont like, ignore it. its not the end of the world. remember that you are begging for advice. how would you be treated if you were out on the streets begging for change?
to those that have been around here, i know this is your forum and i respect that as a newbie. when you were in highschool, all of the info you need is in the book. but you would never get anywhere without a teacher. but really, if someone posts the same question that you've answered over and over again, could you just ignore it instead of telling someone to search? in their defense, if you dont have the right keywords, search function is useless. if you do have the right keywords there could be thousands of threads to go through, 50% of them useless, 25% end in someone saying use the search function, with just the last 25% being solid gold info. trying to get to that gold when you have a job lined up that week with a limited amount of time to order product can really make things tough.

Well said Tim W. I'm a newbie who's been reading this forum and others for a few weeks. I have yet to post a question, as the search function has been invaluable in finding lots of great content. However, when I do begin to ask questions and get more involved in this forum, I would expect "professional" responses from "professional" people.

I think a lot of newbies don't understand a lot of it is about paying your dues. I spent MONTHS on these and other forums for up to 30-40 hrs a week learning and learning and it took me YEARS to get where I'm at. We all had to pay our dues like this. A lot of newbies waltz in here and spend 5 hrs on the boards thinking they have looked everywhere. We ALL had to pay our dues this way. They want the answer and haven't spent months looking for it. It's about building a reputation with these guys. You don't go in your first day on the job and go to the CEO and DEMAND to be moved up to supervisor or management.....so why do it here? In time, people will get to know you and will be freer with their information.
Here's a little dirty secret. I didn't learn half of what I know on these boards. Probably not even a 1/4th. What to know how I learned everything? FROM BEING ON THESE BOARDS. I learned it from building a repore with the guys here and other boards and talking to them one on one and at get togethers and round tables and getting to know them personally.
Also, what a lot of newbies don't understand is that most guys aren't going to give up their secrets easily. Why? 1. Because they WORKED HARD OVER TIME TO GET THEIR KNOWLEDGE and 2. Their competition reads these boards also. How would you feel if you're just starting up and everyone on your block starts to go into the business your going into? Wouldn't work out too well would it? In order to survive, you need something that sets you apart and you newbies are going in day one and DEMANDING these answers. No offense to anyone in particular, but you're not the first sob story we have heard about being broke and needing the answers to survive. When i was broke and didnt have internet, Years ago when I started, we didnt have smart phones. We had this obscure little place called the library that has public computers with free Internet you could go to to read and learn.
Just my 2 cents....from someone who was a newbie at one time.

Another thing to think about is that you have to have thick skin for most of these sites as some people are nice, some are rude but most don't care if you get your panties in a bunch because they told you to use the search button instead of whining and crying about not finding what you wanted in 5 minutes of searching a site that has over 100,000 threads and posts over 12 years more or less and having a hissy fit about it and wanting to be bottle fed and then more whining and crying because more people told you to use the search button or did it for you to show you that the answers are really there, you just did not try enough.
This and other sites are great, have tons of great information and about 12 years of people asking questions and answers given, or links to threads posted or other ways of showing the results.
Just because people tell the new guys to use the search button is not being un-professional, it is them trying to help them because most of the time these questions have been asked over and over, probably dozens or even hundreds of times by people over the past 12 years and don't have time to type out a long answer, want to help but want them to learn about the search button as just about everything can be found using it or some are just that way and don't want to give out the secrets like Jeremy said because if you want to believe it or not, your competitors are reading this site and others like it learning the same stuff as you but not posting so they can keep on hiding. The HUGE difference is that your competitors are not asking the questions, they are looking, reading lots of old threads and using that search button and learning.

It happens every month, someone jumps into the business and does not even like it after a short while or for other reasons decides to get out of the business and even though their machines are almost new, hardly anyone pays new or almost new prices for equipment. Most are lucky to get about 1/2 of what they paid for it as most would rather buy new equipment if they are going to pay almost new prices for used equipment. You can see this happening any day of the week on Ebay and craigslist, lots of equipment that is hardly used along with equipment that has made someone some money for a while that is used and they are selling it to buy more new equipment.
You really have to have thick skin to be on these sites, not just this one because people's personalities sometimes change when on the internet, not all but some do.
I have met a lot of people at the training events, conventions and roundtables throughout the past 9 years and you get a feel for people over time and most are great people, some are psychotic on the internet for some unknown reason, some have split personalities and some are just *ssholes on or off the internet and some will try to manipulate you and add a little bit of brainwashing (not so much here on this site). Nothing you can do about this, just adapt or deal with it if you want to be here. Not trying to be mean here, just telling you how it is.

Tim, easy answer...yes. I use my brightener all the time when I'm reconditioning a machine. Makes stainless shine like new money.
HF is not easy to ship...except in drums. UPS nor FedEx will handle HF in ANY quantity...not even an ounce. Any product containing HF must ship truck freight.
Check your area for a reputable chemical supplier.
