IKECA meeting update

We kicked off the 2005 IKECA meeting last night with a bang. We started with some heavy drinking, huge losses at the blackjack tables and of course through the night were the calls back to the wives to confirm that we we not at a strip club or in the company of some lovely escort.

We started off with some jumbo drinks at the bar and headed over to the Stratosphere to get the shit scared out of us. Remember that the Stratosphere is 110 stories high, and some genius wakes up some day and says hey why done we build some rides on the top of this 110 story building, and some other guys say I got a better idea, lets make one that shoots you over the side of the building and makes you feel like you are going to fall to your death? And guess what there are people stupid enough to ride on them and the ones that aren't quite stupid enough they fill up with those jumbo drinks until they say hey lets go hang over the side of a 110 story building.

All in all we prepared quite well for the test, having company meetings, watching training videos and we even had a company test review before we went in. Grant is here too and he brought one of his guys and I saw them studying hard as well. The difference is Grant and his guy will both probably ace the test while Chris and I will be lucky if we get half the questions right. I guess thats the price you pay for staying up until 2 in the morning doing sake shots, oh well I guess there is always the next convention. Hopefully they will hold it in Cleveland or St Louis so there isn't a readily available and abundant amount of free booze to guide you away from your studies.

Sounds like you had a blast Matt.Sometimes we forget that is what life is supposed to be about. You study like I do,I have been trying to get through Phil's manual for about 6 months now!

Okay, so Matt brought a camera with him....

Not a single freakin phone call? No "hey, Karen, how bout you and Steve meet us for a drink?" Now my feelings are really hurt.

I think you will find that booze is everwhere, let me look, yep still there in my desk, man I can't believe it lasted all day. Oh wait try this one, if you really want to have study time this is the place.

Already have all the certs I need for here, and not looking to go interstate, so why spend the money?

(could probably drink all you lightweights under the table anyway)

That's why we were looking for you! Last one standing pays the bill!

There is NO WAY that I would go up in that thing. It probably helps that I do not drink. I keep my senses and all limbs about me.

I went on one similiar at Great Adventure, not 110 stories though.I screamed and kicked like a girly man all the way down, while my twin 14 year old girls at the time, just laughed all the way down.

The IKECA testing is just basic knowledge of NFPA 96, some OSHA regs regarding safety and chapter 30 of ASHRAE (all pertaining to kitchen ventilation).

It was actually good information to study and I can see the value in knowing this stuff.

I was out today doing bids looking at some things with new eyes.

Congrats Matt & Chris you passed

April is a long month don't you think?

Time to renegotiate my contract now that I am "certified".
Get out your check book Matt..

Certified, Certifiable, they are both close...
Since Matt has the money from his recent negotiations, he might be able to open it wide to improve your lifestyle...
