Its time to speak up

Parker,
If you want Creditability here you must come clean with your profile. No real name/Business name means NO CREDITABILITY.

Not that I'm saying that your not being Honest but Untill you come out of the closet then your complaint has no merit. Stand up to what you believe in by letting us know who you are so that way we don't just think that you are a just a Joe Nobody(Which would be your worst nitemare because you became a Joe) making up stories which I'm sure your not but your hiding yourself which like I said is HURTING you.

Just a shot in the Dark are you CODY????? You see what I mean? I have no Idea who I am responding to which really means that I am wasting my time right now....at my other job(and getting paid for it which isn't neccesarily a bad thing).

So take a stand like you are and back it up with an honest Profile so we can tell you mean business. BE CREDITABLE!!!!!!

Thanks Parker

I dont post here much any more but when I see a post such as yours it's worth it .
I have managed to pissed alot of good folks off because of the way I type and respond to post . Who's problem is that? Well I can blame it all on me but That would be stupid. I think we ALL need to read a post maybe several times before we start typing .. that way maybe things wouldnt get outa hand.

I agree with everything you have said.. Even though I dont do Hoods but in washing altogether. << thanks for your input and the EYE opener.. And who really cares if you are a Parker,Cody,Fred,Jon,Sam,....... what you have typed in your first post is what we all should be doing .. I dont have the big words or the proper grammer to explain it all . But you are right about judging someone by the way they post.

Thanks again and since you checked out all the other BB's
give us a post on the PWN.. (Flynn's BB )

stop in and say HEY!

Parker

I to agree with most of what you said and I for one don't think it matters one bit what you put in your profile. If "credibility" comes from a profile and a business name on a Internet Bulletin Board, then I don't have any either. And I could care less!!!!!!!!!

No offense to you but to me your post was a well written "whine" re: Joe The Lowballer, and anybody who's been in this game for awhile has been there. Your post provoked thought and reactions which were interesting and informative, and that's what it's all about around here.

Good Job

I didn’t read half the post here; it’s all the pretty much the same stuff. We are divided on this issue.

Joes here to stay that one thing we know for sure. He will be here in six months a year and the next.

Chuck, I disagree with you about creditability. I know you and I have spoken with you and I do know who you are. You’re a good person and you don’t play well with others. That’s why we like you. If parker had come to the BBS slowly and we had gotten to know him first maybe we all wouldn’t have judge him so fast.

Maybe we are wrong and should step back; after all it’s just his opinion. I don’t agree with you but we are still friends.

I may have come across wrong and with sarcasm in my first post. I don’t apologize for that because I’m going to do it again. I don’t take any offense from him blasting me about others not wanting to talk with me. Parker has not been reading my junk long enough I still keep posting weather people respond or not.

In the future please everyone don’t take my Post so personal, I don’t really know half of you and don’t really care about your feelings. I’m busy and I just share and speak my mind the way I see things. I respect your opinions when you speak and I have endured a lot of crap from these BBS. I get tortured on a pretty regular basis. Could and would it be different if I posted different? Yes, but that would not be me. If I wanted to be someone else I would have taken drama lesson and become and actor and made way more money.

The bottom line is I have met good people that do understand me and I have met people like chuck that I don’t agree with but still can respect.

We can disagree and still respect each other. I will try but I don’t guarantee my sarcasm will stop. Just know that as a person and a business man I do appreciate the most of you.

I don’t remember who said it but most of us do have pretty big egos. We do own our own businesses and sometimes egos come with the territory.

I’ll keep doing what I do and you keep doing what you do.

JOE STOP CHARGING SO LITTLE < YOUR WORTH MORE JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron it was Beth who says " we agree to disagree and still be friends".

As for Chuck being the black sheep out, naw that is a facade, he has learned how to not let many enter inside his personal area yet he is a nice guy.

Doubt that just ask Scott.

As for you, your a kitty kat but then I have met you a few times and speak with you so I know where you come from.

Joe M, er I mean Ron Musgrave just has a different way of saying things.

I think all of us here are pretty damn good guys n gals but there are going to be times even the best of us goes astray, no biggie as long as we come back down to earth.

I have gone off probably more than anyone else and I survive, I come back, I post but not as often or as detailed for the most part.

Jon

Ron M

Ron M you seem to take my post personal, and you shouldn't. Your name wasn't mentioned by me, and if I had made one comment in my post while thinking about you I would have directed a response straight to you!! Truth be told, I didn't think of you one time while I wrote that. That said, you're right about one thing, "it's all pretty much the same stuff and we're divided on this issue". Cody said it before and I agreed with him. Now it's Parker's turn. Interesting to me also that when Parkers post appears people start wondering who is this guy? Unless he's being obnoxious and irrelevent, DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO HE IS?

Now about the word "Credibility", which is where your response to me was directed. I like that word, and defend my right to perceive it's meaning to me, and here's what "credibility" means to me: IS THIS PERSON BELIEVABLE? NOTHING MORE, and absolutely NOTHING LESS!! Maybe it ruffled some feathers when I said those words about having a profile, and for that I don't apologize. In my mind Parker was very believable and I reacted to his remarks. You might remember a whine of mine a couple of years back when I lost a helluva big account to a scumbag lowballer. I screamed for a week on here, and to be honest I wish I hadn't of done that. I knew what I was gonna do about that before I lit up in front of a bunch of strangers on a BBS, and I suspect that Parker knows what he's gonna do as well.
I'm smart enough to know that I'm not a valued contributer to this board. I admit openly that I don't post where it's really the most needed, helping Newbies. There are others that do it better, and I don't begrudge anyone the right to do that. That's really what these BBS are for, isin't it? Well, selling products and supplies to.

"Black Sheep", "doesn't play well with others", etc. That's all bullshit, or as Jon puts it a facade. I've always said that if you wanted to learn what I do, come on out here and work with me, and I'll show you how I do it. One did, and I hope he learned something lol. That's really the only way I like to do it, and it's my way of being "credible".

Ron you alluded to the word "ego" and how that word comes with the territory. That's a whole other thread, but you pretty much nailed it with that line cause that's what I think it is to. I could sit on this computer for hours, learning, and reacting to what I read. But what I've learned the most is that no matter how many hours I put in here, or how much I agree or disagree with the person writing it, I'm still just a Solitary Figure in the Pressure Washing Business trying to make it the best way I can.

Apologies to anyone who has come here to read about Hoods & Exhaust Cleaning.

One came and learned, or one came and worked with you???:D

Chuck, If I ever get back into fleets I would have you give me my brusher up course for sure.

Now we both know who we are and have determined we are not changing Parkers Mind and probably not our own either.

This hood section is getting a lot of hits and is staying busy. Lots of good guys debating different methods and not agreeing with each other.

I think we all learn from this, yes Chuck the hands on you offer is my first choice too.

I wasn’t upset and I caught your not apologizing. I did it first..LOL I personally think we apologize too much. We are all adults and I frankly wish people would understand I’m just a harsh and direct individual and when I see something wrong or something I think is wrong I say it. (Doesn’t mean I’m right) I’m wrong once about every 20 years.

Its great getting the Chuckster out, I like your posts and you do ad to this BBS.

I think I’m done on this thread Guys, so long.

Scott & Ron M

"One came and learned, or one came and worked with you???"

Scott
I never did figure out if he learned anything, but he took a whole bunch of pictures & movies which I hope were blurred. Having the extra hand that day was helpful, but he did leave with some of my precious acid and a bellyfull of ribeye.

Ron
Yeah I know you caught me for not apologizing, as I did you. Made me laugh.

Clean County,

"I am wasting my time right now....at my other job(and getting paid for it which isn't neccesarily a bad thing). "

Nice to know where the Money goes!

Excuse me Alan, John works hard on his butt for that $$$$, you don't really expect him to stand up and take a bow do you:)

Ron and Chuck, let's not start saying " I'm sorry Ronnie, oh that is ok Chuckie I too am sorry!

Guys apologizing is just words, why do you think the ladies in your life laugh at you when you say things like "honey I am sorry for being late, or Honey I am sorry I forgot it was your birthday".

Oh forgive me guys I am sorry for calling your Ronnie and Chuckie, for a moment I thought I was talking to a couple of little boys.:p

Oh Chuck did you by chance notice of Scott let his belt out a notch or two after eating that ribeye?

I have two kinds of jobs, one being mostly Physical and the other being mostly mental. The problems I have with these jobs is I don't get enough time to sleep in between and I don't make enough money(Most people's main complaint).

I am just like most here and everywhere else that has there wife stay home 24-7 to take care of the kids where I am just getting by with the Money I bring home.

As for where the money goes I wish I new. Most people have this same complaint even though we all Know where it goes...TO PAY BILLS BILLS BILLS. Never enough left over to spend on the fun stuff.

As for Parker I never said I disagreed with the points he was making but I still rather know who I am speaking/Typing to when responding here so I know who my time is being spent on when I respond.

This is the reason why I NEVER did and NEVER will spend time on CHAT boards because who Knows who you could be talking to.
I hold this bb in high regard compared to a chat Board which is the reason why I think all should fill out there Profile.

Its probably the way I am where I have a need to know bases. I don't like to spend my time with someone which I have NO clue who they are and Speculating who they might be is wasted energy.

Very interesting. We don't do anything with hoods, and right now I'm really glad we don't. I saw a similar thread (although much shorter) on Greg's wood BBS regarding hoods.

Sounds like someone may be after a new market that they are not altogether familiar with, but perhaps they have been in the industry a while and want the quick growth. I have a few ideas of who, but since I'm not a hood person I probably am dead wrong and there are probably players out there I'm not even aware of.

One thing we have noticed is the drop in prices in the industry as a whole across many areas, nationwide. I attribute this to the economy, not to the internet. Maybe 10% of the PW'ers are online. Most can't afford it.

So why the economy? Lots of folks are out of work or are supplementing income. Unemployement is WAY up. When this happens, this industry is looked at as a quick buck. Therefore, prices will drop until unemployment goes down. Your best weapon is education, informed presentations to your prospect, and service differentiations. It's a harder sale, but not impossible.
Also, diversify and add on extras. Heck, if you are frying burgers, sell the fries and the shakes. You don't want them going elsewhere. Move with the change in your market, not against them.

I hope this helps somehow.

Beth:)

Beth
You make a good point, however I have found that I can make much more money if I get the exhaust system cleaned and get on to another restaurant, than I can hanging around cleaning a sidewalk or dumpster pad. It's a fine line to walk, I don't turn the work down, because I don't want another powerwasher in their (he may do hoods also) but don't necessarily encourage it either.

Just remember you can flip that the other direction too. The restaurant owner might be happy with the hood cleaner, but get your foot in on the pavement and the dumpster pads. You'll get in there all the way eventually. You're selling the fries and shake, and eventually they'll order the Whopper! :) I'm not saying you have to go to other extremes like wood care or fleets, just kick the door down with the add ons if you have to.

Beth

A hood cleaner with a good account base would find it difficult to service everything because the second job would be missed. The guy who does the flatwork for the most part has limited knowledge of these systems. The PW is only one tool that we have and to fit us into a general box in unrealistic.

I would not venture to expand my service range to wood, trucks and buildings. Why would one want to expand into this world of grease. Be the best you can be and focus on quality and time management of your crews or crew.

David

David you said it well, why I enjoy doing flat work and do it good.

Not interested in hood cleaning, fleet washing and most other stuff but I do somethings that customers ask, it all adds up to bottom line $$$$.

...And that's all I was saying....

When crews arrive at the job, the week is planned. At this time they are asked if we could do this or that. If we were to do the extra, the time slot would be lost. Seldom do the accounts ask when the job is scheduled. I service a group of Burger Kings, we do the drives and the dumpster at each service. I told them we would work 45 minutes per store at ea. service at 90 days. I told them the first time a manager called me because he found some gum at the sign of clown-I would discontinue the flat work. Three years and no calls.

Now we will help the customer if it falls within the time slot and make him happy-most of the time I don't charge.

David
