Who has had Lasik surgery. Shelly wouldn't do it because she thought if you had it you would eventually go blind!

I had it in 2004 and still have 20/30 in one eye and better in the other eye!

How about you guys? Have you had it? How is your vision now?

Before I was blind as a BAT!!!!

However, it didn't stop the aging process and I now need reading glasses (1.50) to read comfortably).

Shelly tells me it was free when she was in Russia (mission trip) and she doesn't understand why it's so expensive here.

I got a good deal on it here. Getting Lasik in Vegas is like getting a housewash in Florida!! Lowball Lasik! I love it!
 
My sister was engaged to one of the top Lasik eye surgeons on the west coast. He did many famous peoples eyes. She worked for him as a consultation counselor. All my family (except me, I was too afraid) got it done for free and no issues in about 8 years.

If your wife wants the honest scoop from someone who knows alot about it, pm me and I'll ask my sister to talk to her.

My happy butt is getting blinder by the day... Our whole house is filled with reading glasses from Walgreen's and the Dollar store. It sucks getting old. I've considered the laser thing but I'm not real comfortable with someone poking around in my eye ball...

To touch base on what Russ said. I'm surprised that we're all not totally blind by now. Hahaha! :dance: :drag:
 
My wife had it done around 13 yrs ago. Huge success, she does use reading glasses now.
The doctor told her she would need bi-focals down the road. It was ten yrs later she needed them.
 
Here's what my experience was.

I went in for evaluation and they tested to determine what they needed to cut. This took about 20 minutes.

Then I came back in another day and there were about 15 of us in a room waiting like cattle. They called us in one by one.

Once in the operating room they open your eye and hold it open with something like a small cup. For about 10 seconds you feel pressure like someone is pushing on your eyeball. Then they move to the next eyeball and do the same thing. Once they are done they ask you to tell them what time it is on a small clock across the room (a clock I would have never been able to see without my glasses) and the clock is clear as a bell! Total time in the operating room - less than 3 minutes.

After that they give you some sunglasses and eyedrops. You see halos around stuff and your eyes are dry as a bone for about a week but you can still drive after the first day.

You still have to put in eyedrops for a month, but after that you just enjoy your new 20/20 vision. I think I got 20/30 in one eye and 20/15 in the other and they balance out to about 20/20. It's been about 6 years and they are still the same. (except I need reading glasses, but that's just a combination of age and something my mother warned me about years ago......

Now for the depressing part Tony (for us, lol)...
Multiply that 3 minutes you spent by 50-60 patients a day spending around $4500 (at least that's what I think my sisters' dude charged), and BAM!!, $270,000 a day!!!!!!
 
It was lowball city here in Vegas for a few years. I think I paid about a grand. At one point it went down as low as $700.00.

That should tell you how much the smaller town guys are ripping people off. I know the machines cost a lot of money, but they don't cost enough to justify $4500!

He had very high profile offices in La Jolla, Ca, & Beverly Hills. His patients were picked up and dropped off by limo. I heard some of his patients were Jessica Simpson, & Howard Stern.

Besides all that surgery money he was making, he also designed some part of a Lasik machine.
 
One of my inlaws does Lasik and he said he doesn't own the machine. They aren't for sale only leased. They get a percentage of the gross.
