have been limping around on a partially torn achilles tendon in my right foot for a little over 2 yrs.In the last couple months the pain had become so bad there were days I couldn't work, fed up with the pain and eating ibuprofen like candy I started to due some research before going to see a doctor.
There are 2 methods of treatment...1 have surgery and be off my foot for 4 months, then a walking cast for 6 to 8 months more.2 get a brace that I can wear with my shoes and at night.I figured trying option 2 was worth an attempt before seeing the doctor.I had a brace in my softball bag that met the requirements needed to stabilize my ankle and heel.I have been wearing it daily for 2 1/2 weeks no my pain has been reduced by at least 70% the large egg sized knot on my heel has reduced at least that much.
I had just about forgot what it was like to walk without pain that nearly crippled me.I'll likely have to wear the brace until spring, but it's a minor inconvenience to be able to get around pain free or at least mostly pain free.
