I have been having problems with my employees lately. They have been coming into work late, doing crapy work, bad attitudes. I let it go at first because it has been so cold but it is starting to get out of hand. What seems to work for you guys???

Well here in medford oregon there are alot of people looking for money...but none seem to want to "work". Some are hard workers "when the show up" lol I have had a hard time getting guys that will come to work everyday. That is why i dont want to loose 2 dependable guys.

Late, shoddy work, and bad attitudes does not sound too dependable to me. I vote for firing as well, or at least a couple of days off without pay.

A guy I used to work for had wash crews. If you showed up late, you went home because the trucks had already pulled out. Try again tomorrow.

I fired 2 guys this year, for not listening to me over & over and a couple I told to stay home when they would call to say they were going to be late. One had the nerve to complain about his pay check becuase i told him to stay home. I laughed.

Theres been a few times I wanted to fire a couple guys, but I didnt, because I needed them at the moment, but enough is enough and those are the 2 I fired

I found having a 5 minute meeting every morning has helped. If it was a good day the day before I let them know, if it was a bad day, I get on their case, pretty hard. I found the couple minutes in the morning has helped. Staying on their ass is how I formed a pretty decent crew. But you know some just dont care and I know that

I agree with Jeff...we have meeting every day...just a quickie to talk about the good and the bad. I involve my guys by asking them what they would do in certain situations. I guess you would call it empowering. Gives them a sense of responsibility.

If you step over the line though...it is out the door you go.

Yes, there are too many people out there looking for work these days. No one is entitled to anything these days...not even us as owners...we work right along side with the crews..wand in hand and the phone in the other! LOL
