Thanks Jonathan.
I'm keen to learn more about pressure cleaning but over this side of the pond pressure cleaning seems to be a lot different ( or undelveloped ?)

I am office bound most of the time but when we are busy i get to go out and pressure clean, which i enjoy.

I've been in the cleaning industry for 23 years, but i don't know anything about marketing pressure cleaning.

Any advice?

Hang in there and ask questions. There is a great knowledge base on this board. Welcome

You have found the right place to ask questions.
Welcome!

Also, the 'Search' button will keep you occupied for a long time.

Thanks for the advice Guys.

Tracy i will visit you shop and be in touch, i can see much better equipment in the US but there are many issues that i need to understand, such as noise levels of working equipment etc. we have very strict heath and safety regulations over here, our environment regs seem to be lapse at the moment compared to the US.

Our unleaded petrol is presently £1.15 per litre so fuel usage is a concern.

I am presently attempting to study heath and safety law to degree level (must be off my head!) as H&S regs are being enforced much more and when estimating for work with correct working processes it can make us more expensive.

Therefore i have much to learn about US pressure washing and then i need to try to anglocise this information.

Many thanks Lady and Gentlemen

On behalf of the residents of the UK you would be more than welcome, if you ever come over to this side of the pond come and say hello, but beware its a bit crowded here in this little island, 60 million adults now!

Welcome Steve,

From my understanding the environmental regulations in the UK are pretty strict. This is wording from a county website in regard to 'wheelie' bin cleaning...

"Written details of any detergent/disinfectant/sterilant shall be submitted along with relevant Control of Substances Hazardous to Health notes for each product to be used.

The method employed by the licence holder shall ensure that any waste water and refuse generated during the first rinse of each bin shall be contained on the vehicle for discharge at a suitable disposal point. There shall be no spillage of first rinse material on to any roadway, footpath or other area.

Details of any disposal arrangements for waste water and refuse accumulated during the washing process should be submitted in the application form and circulated to Environment Services prior to the initial inspection."

It would appear that there is a policy with regard to water pollution in the UK and is enforced by the environment agency...

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/netregs/63294.aspx

The cosmetic cleaning industry is in its infancy in the UK (I'm from Scotland) and I know of a friend of a friend of a friend who does drain jetting and pressure washing for McDonalds and Burger King in Scotland.

If you market your services correctly and get the right equipment you could corner the market. The reclaim and reuse of waste water would be a big selling point in the nanny-state UK.

Good luck in your pressure washing venture in England... maybe one day I'll go back to Scotland and open a CleanFast UK... LOL

Steve Button

You are not wrong with your overview of environmental reg's in the UK, but there are many people who do not understand these reg's(including the authorities)

When we try to undertake work process and apply UK laws and reg's we can easily become unconpetitive. ( but do dont cry for me! its proberly like that for you pro guys in the US?)
I'm studying ( trying like f........ mad) for a degree in heath and safety law and environmental regulations, it may take me a few years! but I an persuing my chosen discipline. I agree that there are many changes coming.

Please, please come to the UK and try to make a difference,we do not have enough professionals like you over here.

I am trying to learn about pressure cleaning (at the rate at knots) so i thank you for all your helpfull comments.

Is the equipment you supply CE approved? as a citizen of the UK (opps) europe i cannot import equipment under (provisional use of work equipment regulations)(PUWER) heath and safety law unless it is.
