pump problems

I have a dynablast hotwater machine that I use twice a week to clean delivery trucks up here in Ontario Canada. It's a mobile business so I use a tank for my water. My machine takes way to long to prime itself, I have to let it run for somtimes 10 minutes before it starts to suck water. After I finish washing I need to run antifreeze through the machine but sometimes it won't do it so I have to put a heater in my truck untill the next wash, that ups my hydro bill like crazy. How do I get the antifreeze through the pump without running the machine with a dry pump for 10 minutes?
 
I'm not too sure how you are plumbed in but 10 minutes to prime is very hard on your pump. I would put a "T" in the line between my tank and pump, then a ball valve on the top of the t and on the tank side. Shut off tank side open the top valve and have a hose and funnel to pour in antifreeze. The pump won't lose prime if you shut it off before it grabs or runs out of antifreeze. Then open the tank side when you get to the next job and the prime should stay.

Is this normal for a pump to take that long to prime? I have another machine (cold water) That primes itself allmost instantly. Why does my hot water machine take so long? I do use my truck for other jobs and have to move my tanks to the back of my truck for a day so I am unhooking them on occation, I guess there's no way around a hard prime in that case. Also, is it normal for my michine to pump out black and brown water for a minute or so everytime I use it?
 
Post a description of your plumbing, plus distances and height from the tank. Then maybe we can understand it a bit better. From what you are describing it is not normal.
 
You probably have an air leak somewhere. Either that, or your seals are bad and it is getting an airlock in it. If when you get to the job you break open the seal right at the pump until water runs out, then seal it up and you will be able to go quicker.
As for the black or brown water, it means that you are getting rust in your coil, for whatever reason. Could be because you are using DI water, or the water in your area is really pure. If you are getting that, you can flsuh it out, and hope it works, or you can descale your coil. You might want to upstream some Quality soap through it, and it will seal it for a short time. Eventually, you can get pin hole leaks in your coil. That will mean replacement. It is all just a part of doing business.
