I was wondering how many of us have had shoulder injury's from pressure washing?
My right shoulder starting to bother me around the first of October, by Oct. 15th it hurt all the time. So I went to a orthopedic doctor ( recommended by my primary care doc) he thought it might be a muscle strain and prescribed muscle relaxers and pain meds. After a week I went back and told him the pain was worse, he said he sees this kind of injury 4-5 times a week and to go home and stop taking the meds he gave me a week earlier. He said to rest for a month and the pain should go away.
After another week of pain I started getting bad headaches, so my wife checked my blood pressure and it was 164/110. Now off to the primary doctor who prescribes high blood pressure meds.
Still in pain Friends recommend a orthopedic doctor about an hour away in Jacksonville. Call and get an appointment a week later, he has me move my arm in different directions till he moves it up and to my back. I almost passed out, in less than five minutes he diagnosed a torn labrum/labral. He gave me a injection of litecane and cortisone into the shoulder joint, within a couple of hours all the pain was gone.
Now off for a contrasting MRI, they inject dye in to the shoulder joint than do the MRI. He was right, a torn labrum/labral also called a SLAP tear(no my wife did not slap me).
This Wednesday I will be having arthroscopic surgery, about a 1 1/2 hour surgery if the rotator cuff is OK.
I have been told it will be a 12 week recovery by one nurse and a six month recovery by a different nurse.
I have been pressure washing for 11 years with no shoulder or arm problems, my doctor says any over the head arm movement is hard on your shoulders but pressure cleaning is really bad.
Has anyone else had shoulder injury's from pressure cleaning, and how long to recover from surgery?
I also recommend looking into short and long term disability insurance, no I don't have either. It looks like I'll be spending the money I saved to buy an Isuzu NPR on living expense's.
I hope to be back to work by March. I will be hiring a helper.
Sorry for the long post.
I hope ever one had a great thanksgiving, I know I have a lot to be thankful for!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year
