This is hood cleaner set-up using a sprinter van. Sprinter van works great for skid mount unit.

They get 20 mpg fully loaded with 2000 lbs of equipment on city driving. The back end is 6 feet in height, wheel base for this one is 150 inch. That's a 24 foot extension ladder in it. The side door has a built-in ramp that allows your guys to roll up a cart inside it.

The cab is separated to stop fumes, etc. Driving it around it suprisingly easy.

The machine is set-up for two guns. One gun to the roof, one gun inside, both spraying from one machine.

Nice looking Sprinter, is it a Dodge or FL?

It looks very full inside. There are ladder racks that go on the roof, but you need a ladder to get to the roof, unless you get a ladder rack that lowers the ladder for you.

Did you spray bedliner inside, and did that seal the interface between the bulkhead and the floor. I have visions of water running under the bulkhead and soaking the carpet and carpet pad.

Where did you get the cart? and does it carry the clamps, plastic and other assorted tools? how much weight will it handle? We seem to make too many trips back and forth to move our stuff in & out of the resturant.

What fasteners are you using to support the overhead rack? and how much weight are you going to put there?

More questions to follow

2005 158 2500 SHC

Looks good, But I don't think I could work out of it. It looks so confined and what if, you have to work on the machine. Looks like it would be brutal.

Grant I seen the cart also, I thought of a fold up cart, like the one at Sam's for flats of goods, but smaller. But its another thing to get beat up or haul.

Grant dont you use the crew cab Isuzu's with pretty decent mpg?

I have been working out of enclosed trailer and a big Ford, With a mpg of 8 to 10 loaded. So this is top on my list!

Sweet. Sprinters are awesome. They have been used in europe for 11 years and routinely go 300K miles. Only problem with sprinters is that right now the dealers won't deal on them The milage on them is excellent. I have been looking for one of the 3500 box trucks they make

My 2003 was $34,000. My 2005 was $34,300 with an impressive list of options. The power windows, door locks, upgraded seats, cruise, computer monitering system is almost standard equipment. I ordered my 2005 with that plus, 150 amp alternator, auxillary battery, chrome grille and trim, mirrors, plywood floor, rear door windows/heat, longer wheel base, Auxillary front heat, front insulation, & other stuff I cannot even remember now. The only thing I did not order and I wanted was the auxillary rear heat. I also got 3 extra wheels for snow tires. I made a list of what I wanted, & called dealers in a 400 mile radius. I asked for the fleet mgr, and asked if they were interested in selling me a Sprinter. Of course all were. I faxed my list to each dealer. Each dealer knew they were bidding on hte exact same vehicle and it would be a special order. I found about $1500.00 difference between high and low prices. Dick's Country Dodge in Hillsboro came in with the best price. I did eliminate 2 dealers because I did not like their attitude. Don Clark, the fleet mgr was very good to work with, he did not try the bull**** routing with me. He called when the van was received at the dealership. The van was ready for me the day and time we set up. The only problem with the van is that we have not put it into service yet. We are too busy taking care of our customers. The van now has the following done, shelving, insulation, front storage between the seats, auxillary horn, Hot Shot heated wiper fluid, and side panels. Not done is the lighting, wiring, heater, ceiling panel, work bench, and nitrogen tanks. Future upgrades will include Koni rear shocks, larger rear sway bar, and a chip. Next time, I will just take the van to a shop in Portland that converts work vans.

My 2003 gets 22 MPG, loaded and at 70/75 MPH. It is fast, quiet, handles great, and looks good when I show up at a customers place of business. When asked why I drive a Mercedes, I just reply my customers deserve the best. I have only had 2 negative comments, both from comptitors who drive POS, overloaded, noisy vehicles.

No self respecting hood cleaner uses pump up sprayers.

What you talkin bout there Willis? Pump-ups work if you know how to use 'em. Start with 3 gallon pump-up leave 1/2 the space for air and 1/2 for chem. Too many dudes fill em up with liquid and can't figure why they have to keep pumpin. Foam is for beer!

Just curious if anyone out there is running a 10-14 foot box truck? We are looking at a ford van cut away with a 12 foot box on the back 6 ft high is a diesel. Just wondering how people are setting them up

Is this a good deal?

A 2003 ford E-350 cutaway ( van front) with a 16 foot box 124K miles diesel with no damage no wreck history used to haul vending machine contents (potato chips ect).
Dealer wants 13,900.
I said I wanted it but there is a guy who has first dibs on it should I wait or keep lookin. I like the diesels ( long term use) and the box (stand up in it lots of room and no stink to the front)

Hi Alexy

I have an 04 Chevy cutaway utilitymaster. I would not by another one. I have it set up about as good as its going to get and I still have issues with room on the inside and the outside doors are always having problems. I have an 05 chevy 2500 ext savana van that I think is my best set up.

I like that Set up, Happy Birthday by the way Scott

Yea a little claustrophobic but hey whatever works :) I like our 04 GMC 3500 16' box truck the best as do my employees. Roomy and easy to work out of but its only 10'6 to the top. The cargos sticker up nice but they're pretty confined.

Hey Alexy we run an 03 Ford E350 that came from Ryder truck sales had 125k on it when we bought it last August, got 135 now. Out the door price $8200. Sticker up nice and it is a little cramped in the box but after you trip over the plumbing a few timed you learn where to lift your feet a little higher. Oh by the way it's got the 7.3 liter powerstroke diesel. Possibly the greatest motor ever made.

Nice Set up Scott
