My 2003 was $34,000. My 2005 was $34,300 with an impressive list of options. The power windows, door locks, upgraded seats, cruise, computer monitering system is almost standard equipment. I ordered my 2005 with that plus, 150 amp alternator, auxillary battery, chrome grille and trim, mirrors, plywood floor, rear door windows/heat, longer wheel base, Auxillary front heat, front insulation, & other stuff I cannot even remember now. The only thing I did not order and I wanted was the auxillary rear heat. I also got 3 extra wheels for snow tires. I made a list of what I wanted, & called dealers in a 400 mile radius. I asked for the fleet mgr, and asked if they were interested in selling me a Sprinter. Of course all were. I faxed my list to each dealer. Each dealer knew they were bidding on hte exact same vehicle and it would be a special order. I found about $1500.00 difference between high and low prices. Dick's Country Dodge in Hillsboro came in with the best price. I did eliminate 2 dealers because I did not like their attitude. Don Clark, the fleet mgr was very good to work with, he did not try the bull**** routing with me. He called when the van was received at the dealership. The van was ready for me the day and time we set up. The only problem with the van is that we have not put it into service yet. We are too busy taking care of our customers. The van now has the following done, shelving, insulation, front storage between the seats, auxillary horn, Hot Shot heated wiper fluid, and side panels. Not done is the lighting, wiring, heater, ceiling panel, work bench, and nitrogen tanks. Future upgrades will include Koni rear shocks, larger rear sway bar, and a chip. Next time, I will just take the van to a shop in Portland that converts work vans.
My 2003 gets 22 MPG, loaded and at 70/75 MPH. It is fast, quiet, handles great, and looks good when I show up at a customers place of business. When asked why I drive a Mercedes, I just reply my customers deserve the best. I have only had 2 negative comments, both from comptitors who drive POS, overloaded, noisy vehicles.
