The dreaded gasoline poll!!!!

President Bush has addressed this big time

I watched a Conferance with Bush where I think it was with some sort of Energy group he was addressing.

In it he has addressed driling in ANWR (Alaskan National Wildlife Rescue) to increase oil production. He mentioned opening up driling in the Gulf of Mexico again. He mentioned building Nuclear Powerplants. Which would replace Patroleum Plants. Also Coal Plants which West VA will supply the most of the coal. He even mentioned building more Oil Refineries.

The reason Nuclear Power Plants and Oil Refineries haven't been built is because of Enviromentalists who won't allow it. And probably besides the Teachers Union is the most powerful Lobying group in D.C.

Other things he promoted is pushing for Alternative fuel vehicles and giving insintives to companies who look for new technologies. But that is a distant dream because the UAW won't allow it. It would require cooperation between the Japanese companies and that would lead to a massive strike crippiling our economy big time.

He also mentioned these in the debate. So did Kerry but Kerry would crumble to the Unions.

By the way. Bush can't do anything without the Congress funding it or passing it. Bush could say he declares himself dictator and it won't mean a thing unless the Congress votes to give him Authoritarian power. Which happened in Germany in I believe 1936 to Hitler. And even though the Republicans have the majority. Many Republicans are up for election in a year or so and can't risk taking a stand.

Just some more Info. Most of our oil doesn't come from the middle east. 18% comes from Canada. I believe 13% comes from Mexico and Venezuala. And only 11% comes from the Saudi Arabia. Now Iraq does sit on the largest reserve in the world. But it has never been tapped to it's full potential because of Saddams Authoritarian Regime. He needed people to stay poor to stay in power.

Oh yeah Gary to answer your question. A lot to do with the price of Gas is the Refining process. Different states have different standards in fuel. As in Emissions. California has the strictest so there gas is generally more expensive. While Georgia Gas isn't as strict so ours is cheaper. Then again. You can thank the Enviromentalist next time your at the pump.

I haven't seen any talk about the real reason gas prices have skyrocketed. It has nothing to do with Bush or the Gov. It's called Supply and Demand, and why is Demand so high? China. The demand for Steel and petrol in the East has risen over 4-500% in the past few years. The Eastern coast of China which is opened up to Free Trade and Capilalism has launched a boom like the world has never seen! Shanghai has several hundred new Hi-Rise construction projects going on and the skyline is littered with Hi-rise cranes! This is where Opec and other oil-producing countries are shipping their crude and refined petroleum. This is having an effect on the US and is causing a supply shift because their paying top dollar over there for it. Bottom Line, If the US wants fuel we're gong to have to pay for it.
Also I for one am pro ANWR but guess what? Where do you think that crude would go? It will be a while before prices peak and it's going to choke us when they do!

We all need to quit buying the cheap products from China, then the price of steel and gas will go down. Pay a little more for American made products, keep the jobs here and we all win in the long run. Boycot Wall-mart, or should I say China-Mart?

The Problem with American products...

is that they are not that great of products. Now some brands are. I won't buy a Tool from China. I'll buy American Tools such as Snap-on or Craftsman. Though some tools I will only get from lower-cost brands. Such as prybars or tools that take major abuse. But generally American Products aren't great.

Other products I'll gladly buy from overseas. I won't buy any American Cars anymore. I'm tired of playing that game. I'll only buy Japanese. Same with small equipment. My pressure washers are Honda powered and I've grown attached to Honda. It's just a fact that American cars are no competition to Japanese. Or the little bit of quality you can find in an American car is because of Competition from Japan.

Now I know people hate Wal-mart. Or as others call it China-mart. But Walmart has done more for this country than people who don't understand Capitalism and Economy can ever grasp. Because of these Lowercost products it has driven prices down in other stores. People who couldn't afford a bicycle can now get a decent one for a lowcost making a kid have a happier Christmas. It has also brought down prices of food. When they Finally built a Super Wal-mart in my town it drove the price of food down in my town. I saw Publix, Kroger, and Ingles suddenly drop their prices right before it opened.

Also when that Wal-mart opened it drove down GAS PRICES. It even drove Quick Trips prices down. I buy my Work Clothes from Wal-mart because I mess them up so bad. That way I can save money to further my Business.

But I have to say that you don't have to Buy from Wal-mart if you don't want to. Ain't Capitalism Great. But I'll Keep Wal-mart in Business that way those who don't want to buy from Wal-mart can keep buying products at lowerprices from other companies so they have money to pay me to pressure wash their home.

My Sprinter is a deisel, $2.67.9 per gallon , at least it gets 20 MPG. When I go to Portland, I make sure I fill-up before heading home.

I know one way Wal-Mart is destroying my world. They built one less than a mile from my house. That's not the problem, the problem is that I can't keep my wife out of the place!! Every time she or sometimes I go it's at least a couple of c-notes gone! It's amazing, the way that your in there and it seems like you see something and say oh yeah, I need (not really) that and BAM you're hooked. Oh well no big deal, It's only money, right? I still like getting my oil changed in my vehicles there for $15.95 + tax. I can't do it myself for that amount. LOL

Have gas and fuel prices been passed on to your customer yet? Have you had to have a price increase so far? Higher fuel costs effect everything in the construction industry and I wonder how many will sit and eat this cost and still think they are making money? Is a price increase in your contract, due to material costs?

I have a friend of mine that is in the lawn care business and I ask him this question every time prices go up and he says he doesn’t raise prices to follow the market. I tell him he is stupid and losing money or he is already overpriced and is a marketing genius.

I don't raise my prices to current customers to follow gas prices. Never have, and never will. The gasoline is a small part of my overall operatiiing expenses, and so it does not make sense to jack up prices every time tehre is a spike in pricing. I guess you could say I am a marketing genius, because I am certainly still making money without raising prices.

I haven'te raised prices but have reconsidered driving out to give free estimates. I got screwed over a few times because of that. So now I'm thinking of charging to come out to give an estimate at locations that are not close to me.

Now obviously if they do accept my bid I'll knock off the price by whatever I charge them to come out.

Another benifit to it is it will help weed out the people who want to "Play Games" and those who want to "Play Ball".
