Ron, I took a quick look at the org a couple of times. Doesn't represent a good return on investment for me. My core business is targeted toward home builders and related folks, so I spend my money on activities related to them (HBA, etc.).

I have never had a potential client ask if I was a member of an org like the PWNA, but several have asked if I was a member of the Home Builders Association.

Also don't need to tell you that PWing is incredibly fragmented business, and doesn't lend itself to "value through association" that other businesses might. You may find for example that folks involved in exaust cleaning may feel more value in associations (and/or certification agents) in there area of expertise.

I certainly appreciate the efforts that you, Mike, Chris and others put into the association, but bottom line is that it is not worth a few hundred bucks per year to me.
 
I disagree with Bill.

I think that the PWNA is a very good investment right now and has the potential to become one of the most powerful tools we have as professionals. Very few people / customers will ask if you belong because they don't know that it exists - but if you let them know, you can help to change their perception of your company and our industry in general.

I think that many, if not most, people still see this industry as something akin to lawn cutting, but not landscaping. They think you need the basic equipment - but no real skill. So they are more willing to let anyone with equipment and a low price blast away!


While the industry is definately fragmented, and the PWNA does not yet fully address each area, any state or national organization that steps up to educate both the contractor and the consumer can only be a boost to the industry.


I believe that when the PWNA, or some similar organization, developes a few new certification programs and promotes them properly, they will become a standard that people / customers will recognize and look for.

The organization will need some more help and involvement from people like us to help this happen, but I think it's something that will benefit everyone if it is done properly.

I knew when your birthday was listed at, and knew that was the case. Of course, if someone tried to figure out your business from what you have listed in the past, they never would. Too much contradictory information.

What is such a secret about your true location? I mean we already know you have Earthlink/Mindspring out of Pasadena, CA as your ISP.

Truth be told Zippo you would be doing yourself a big favor if you stopped your charade of games and came out.

If you have as many years as you claim in this business why not offer good solid advice instead of playing the games you play?

I'd double check your Mindspring/Earthlink info, and not solely base it on the physical location of their servers!

Zippo I would have to agree with you on it not being as much fun to offer solid advice, I like to kid around too and as long as it stops there no problem.

You have come a long ways from the old you so I give you credit for trying to be nice.

As for the location I am aware you can be anyplace and still have it show up as coming from their Pasadena CA location.

Where some of us have a problem is more then likely you are a well known person here and this is your alter ego.

I have a pretty good idea but since I screwed up the last time I shall refrain from ever posting my guess again.

Perhaps you might be man enough to send me Email and trust me enough to know if you came out I would never say what I know to anyone.

Yes I can be trusted that much, give it a try.
