Bench advertising???????????????????

Hey all, has anyone used bench advertising? And if so what kind of results.
I am thinking of actually making some benches. Of course I need to check with the city to see if its even possible. I know they are usually $100.00 a month for a yr contract going with an existing ad company.

You won't sell to the bus riders. You will sell to the cars driving by. Watch the areas you'll place them. See what kind of cars are driving by, know the area. That's pretty cheap advertising for 24/7/365 exposure. Definitely worth investigating and pursuing.

Ebay has some great deals on the signs. Buy from a reputable dealer with a high number of transactions.

I tried a bench advertisement with a company at a local grocery store...... exposure to 26 thousand people a week based upon store calculations.
I have yet to get one lead, do one estimate or land one job from that. Aside from that, my ad was not placed when it was supposed to be, thus limiting my market time in the usable season, the ad they produced without my permission sucks after I beat them on a credit card dispute, they filed a claim against me for the balance after they lost the CC dispute after they did not meet their end of the contract.
My experience with them was poor to say the least. PM me if you want the parent company info. I would not walk. I WOULD RUN FAR AND FAST!
Once my legal dispute is settled, I will post their info all over these boards and implore anyone in business to pass the info around about these people. They are scum!

If I read correctly he is talking about making the benches himself after he get's city approval. If that is the case all he has in it is his time and materials. Doesnt look to me like he is dealing with a company.

Target your customers with a pin point accuracy not on bench signs. Just my 2 cents.

Think about it have you ever called a number off a bench? Look at a baseball field or football field may have a higher return. I would invest in post card or website upkeep

I have talked to some business owners throughout the years and they never got any work off the signs at the ball park or sports places, they did it mostly to support the teams, just like sponsoring the teams, they did not get any work, just wanted to help out the teams.

Postcards and website are great marketing if done right.

I would not have anything to do with benches on city property or property leased to the bus companies, that is a whole case of cans of worms of liability issues in our sue-happy world we live in.

I also have never called a number off a bus bench but people still advertise, maybe for certain businesses it works good? Here it is mostly realtors doing most of the advertising.

Now you can advertise on the bus itself, from a sign to a whole bus wrap. If it is a long term deal, I wonder if you get the wrap done at a discount? I think that would be a good idea, a full color wrap on a city bus that people will see everyday until you stop advertising. I don't know if you can pick the routes but if you got a good route I think it could be a good investment.

I doubt you will be able to buid your own benches so with the $100/month in mind......................It's like anything else, you need to be repetitive. One bench would do nothing. You would want to do at least 2 more like 3+ on one short stretch of road. Even at that I would only use it to solidify my postcards that I sent to people in the immediate area. And I wouldn't want to do it on crazy busy road that leads all over town. I would do it in a very small niche area. Saturation of a particular area would be the only reason I would do it. Doing 3 benches = $300/month which= $3600/year. For this you could send out 15000 postcards and mail them out for 10 months. (no jan or feb) Pick a very well to do area, pick out 1500 homes, mail to them once a month for the 10 months and you have your 15000 cards. You would get a better response from that than anything....in my opinion:)

It does work but you need a different approach. Build the benches with the concrete legs and then think Golf Course. Donate 2 or 3 of them to the golf course but it will have to look good. That should be your target market.
