Bigger Surface Cleaner Recommendations

We run big guys with 8gpm machines.

Right now were trying out the 4 nozzle bar per Doug Rucker's recommendation. So far I really like it.

I cleaned a one time job last weekend and didn't have any trouble with striping. The guys are telling me it really cleans faster on our maintenance work.

Very good info Chris... how long have you been using it?

2502's I think they are. It's what they come with

Doug Rucker

Thx Doug........ i was thinking the 2502's but had no idea it came with the nozzles already in it..

My big guy destroys my whirlaway in speed of cleaning. I have the single bar 4 nozzle. The big guy is the easiest surface cleaner to use that I have touched due to the fixed wheels and handle locking in place. I can easily maneuver it anywhere one handed and guide/control my hose with the other hand. I also fold/collapse the big guys handle down when its not in use so it takes up barely any more space then say a ground force. With the type of handle the big guy has it actually takes less space on my trailer then the whirlaway.

I do not look forward to the next time i have to purchase a surface cleaner that doesnt have the lock in place lawnmower type handle that the big guy has.

I can't wait to get mine. I just ordered one from Bill and Paul at Powerwashstore.com with the 4 bars.

Wouldn't you like to know Lol.

When I had my first 4 GPM machine after I retired from Vietnam I ran 2 - 2's in it.
We now have 3 - 5 GPM machines. Sometimes I get crazy and hook 2 of them together. Hang on!

I run 8 gpm machines. 4 nozzles for the SC makes a lot more sense. Up until now I've always used Landa water jets so I'll be curious to see how it compares. Either way, doesn't really matter. I always customized them to run faster.

Good point Craig.
Why the switch from water jet to big guy? I always had the impression that the water jet is one of the best surface cleaners made.

They are and I love 'em. I guess I'm just bored with them. Call it the 16 year itch.

This is about the time I start suggesting we all meet for steak and donuts. We can talk about big guys, little guys, 2 bars, 4 bars etc.
Personally I prefer the 3 1/2 bar setup.

I recommend using the roof mix and a 28" surface cleaner you will need little pressure on the concrete (follow same precautions). Those 4" add up after a while. Treat just before dark hopefully you will have some dew to help keep it working treat again next morning then burn through it.

Our first surface cleaner was a Hydro Tek and it was terrible they make a good pressure washer but the rest of their equipment sucks . We then switch to Big Guys and they are great. However we find we can move faster with two nozzles instead of 4 nozzles. Last year we brought a Water Jet and it is remarkable it is 24" vs Big Guy 28" but it is twice a fast as the Big Guy. However it is twice the price also 1500 vs 750. But we are able to do one more job per night than we did before which equals about 2K per week.
