Board and Environmental Committee to vote on proposed BMPs

First let me say WOW!!! I am shocked and amazed that the efforts put forth by my father, Robert Hinderliter, would be seen as so self-serving and would fall under such attacks. I am proud of what he did and the things he has done to help preserve the industry. He had the foresight to see how aggressively the regulators were going to interpret the Clean Water Act. The mobile power wash industry was on the verge of being shut down in Fort Worth, TX and would have been taken over by the car wash operators and the sand trap service companies. This is no exaggeration; prosed ordinances were being prepared for city council. Robert then convinced local municipalities to hold a meeting for public comment and informed local contractors and distributors of the meeting. After that meeting the ordinance was reworked and the education process began on what power washing contractors could do to help with the environment. How the industry could easily comply by following some basic steps for controlling wash water and disposal and how power washer could actually be good stewards of the environment to make our communities cleaner with less pollution.

From there he held many educational events and meeting to educate contractors, regulators, enforcement officials and his competition. None of this was done to sell equipment. I actually, watch his business decline as he did it. Many of the things he taught were with items that could be bought at the local hardware store. There has never been a recommendation put forth that had an exclusive for products, processes or equipment that Robert had an exclusive to sell.

I guess what surprises me the most is the amount of selfless time, energy and money that he invested into the industry and now to be chastised like this is just wrong.

The problem with BBS is that people will post and say things about other people that they would never say to their face. They won’t even pick up a phone and call a person to find out facts first hand. Conjecture and rumor seem to rule direction of some threads and replies. All I ask is that those that post remember that we are all here for a short time. Show some respect and stay on topic. Remember that your written comments can affect the personal and professional lives of others. Robert is 70 years old. He has devoted his professional career to this industry and has been experiencing difficult health issue for the past 4 years. He considers retirement to mean he works 40 hours a week instead of 80. He gets so much enjoyment from sharing his knowledge and working to promote the industry.

As for me, I believe I should support and protect my family, I should work to help my fellow man, I should be a good steward of the environment. And I hope to leave this world a better place for the future enjoyment of my children and those to come. So, I fully support any effort that will help promote the power washing industry and the protection of the environment. I don’t fully understand what the objectives of this coalition are or how it intends to achieve them. But if they comply with the aforementioned then I am in full support. I would encourage the coalition to post in writing those objectives and how they will be achieved.

Anyway, that is all I have to say. I won’t post any more on this thread and I will not come forth to support or promote public attacks. If anyone wants to talk to me and get the story first hand, you are more than welcome to call me. My direct line is 817-546-4800 or you can reach me on my cell at 817-401-1684.

Sorry, that dog want hunt. Just because you were unselfish in your devotion to something and gave your time. energy and money into something does not make it right. I know what went on in my state. I know that as the meeting closed the bull horn was brought out to call people to see the reclaim equipment. The belief that we are polluters is wrong and self serving. I don't fault you, I would be compelled to take up for my father probably, but the odds are he would speak for himself. The harm the has been caused over the years and the sleight of hand that an org is trying to do now flies in the face of what is beneficial for contractors.

Michael, if you are referring to me, reread my post. If Robert did what he did to sell equipment, I'm unaware of it. Robert was the only one (and Jerry) claiming "compliance" could be attained by minimal equipment. My reference to Robert was that the approach has failed - nothing more.

The approach assumes that all pressure washers are polluting the environment somehow. If you are washing greasy trucks all day at one location then, yes, you should be concerned with the environmental impact. On the other hand, if you are washing a building every 5 years or cleaning concrete once a month you are in an entirely different ballpark. While agreeing that we are polluters to attempt a compromise with the local governments may have worked out well for your company it sold the mobile concrete cleaning guys down the river and put them in the crosshairs of the government. This is the approach that has failed.

The guilty manufacturers and distributors know who they are. They are the ones who have taught the city council members terms like "closed system" and "nothing down the drain but rain".

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If the compromise approach you've been using was working so well would you have the craziness that is going on a short 280 miles from you?

Are you and Robert with us or against us?

This post began with an announcement that was shocking. It stated that a small group of contractors were about to determine a proper BMP and then present it to the peons to swallow. Michael, that was presumptuous and condescending whether it was intended that way or not.

My cell number is at the bottom of every post. I think people here know me well enough to know there's nothing I'd say on the boards I wouldn't say in person. (if you were referring to me) I would have called you the minute I read your post, but it was already 10:30 your time.

Why is all this stuff in this thread?

This about contractors coming together, we need a voice in this industry.

We are happy to have Roberts help, if he wants to help then he should text or email or post here. http://www.propowerwash.com/board/u...e-only-with-real-concerns-to-stay-in-Business!!!

Since he has worked all his life with this I can see why you and him would not be on board.

Will wait for your answer.

Please do not turn this into about hurting Robert mike. Please, this industry has enough sides.

Its simple , you can be with but you will never be agaist us.

We have already decided last night this coalition will never not help anyone with this problem.

Reguardless If they are Pwna Ceta Uamcc or if there name Iis just Joe.

That truly representing the industry.

I have over 200 in less than 12 hours.

No one will make this divided. It's a choice, if anyone makes the wrong choice we will never hold that ageist them.

AC no one here is faulting anyone for making an honest living. But if you were to lobby the state of Florida to force contractors to use your softwash system you would no longer be making an honest living. As long as your system sells based on it's merits I can't see how anyone could accuse you of being an Uncle Tom. Maybe I'm missing something.

Exactly, this should not be here. But I did not make the accusation I only responded to them. There is alot more that could be said but I said my peace and I want to move on. I honestly hope that misinformation and willingness to jump to conclusion before knowing all the fact will stop.

As for the coalition, I will post in that thread.

PWNA business is not Roberts fault ever, its something I have been saying for a long time. People that volinteer get shots taken at them, I know because that all I have done all my cleaning carreer.

So everyone here is clear its not Roberts fault this is happening. We as the entire industry need more involvement, get in volved and everyone stop moaning about the faults.

We can and will fix these problems, people putting there heads together truly can resolve this issue.

We would just truly like to have something that represents that.

Sometimes our personal feelings get involved and we allow emotions to control us, I'm guilty of that. I just a human who will continue to make mistakes till I die.

Lets hope the PWNA listens to its members.

Mike Hilborn has a difficult job, as always he seems to be under fire. This is part of the job, its not always going to peachy at the top.

I have said this a million times, our next great president will not do what the republicans want or the democrats. He will do what the american people want.
