"Pump for no more tha 5 seconds"
The pump should stop pumping when you are not spraying. If it continues to cycle then adjust the pressure switch(small allen screw).
I just break the negative because it was easier at the time and it works. No need to do both. If the alligator clips work, try them with the ends clamped on the battery instead and see if your performance doesn't increase.

William What do you mean "pump for no more than 5 sec." just wondering. I run a fatboy with clips and never had a problem. 10ga wire all the way around. How bad is the loss for useing clips guys? thanks

+1 on the direct with clips & 10ga. No issues and we use it daily.

Its not that complicated. We use a light switch with a waterproof casing. Takes 3 minutes to install and works like a champ.

It's not a 3 way switch, is it? You know, like you'd find at the top and bottom of a staircase. Does it say "off" and "on"?

It's a single pole one way I believe. Not like the one you would use on a stairway or hallway where they are interconnected.

The first thing I did which may have caused a problem was that I ran it positive side switched instead of ground side. Not real sure that it would make a difference though, it still completes the circuit. Would the amperage on the switch being a 15 instead of 20 make a difference? I am stumped. I didn't work on it too much more this afternoon but it seems really simple and I know it is either the switch or how I wired it because it works when I remove the switch and just directly connect it. Maybe I will try a 12v heavy duty switch and see if it works. I would think the regular light switch should be fine. I did get the watertight switch cover with the cam. I wired everything just like Bob did in the video but my switch is the only problem.

From what I see is you ran your ground wire to the switch. run the ground direct to the pump and run the hot thru a 12v switch not what your using

Thats how mine is. The pos. from the pump goes to one side of the switch. the pos. from the battery goes to the other side of the switch with an inline fuse. The neg. from the pump goes to the neg. battery terminal.
I use a heavy duty toggle switch so either side for connections will work

I think uninterupted power to the pump with 'ground switching' sounds good.

Thanks William. thats what i thought

Wow, I figured out what happened. This is pretty funny and thanks for all the help. The first switch I used was bad. I directly connected the pump, primed it and sprayed some water testing it out. When I shut it off I forgot to bleed the pressure of the hoseline. Then when I put the new switch on it "didn't work" because the pump was already primed. All I had to do was pull the trigger and it kicked on! haha Man that was an ordeal. I went with a toggle switch instead. Works like a champ now.

Haha, dont you love when its something simple like that? I had a rental house that I couldnt get the lights in the living room on. we changed the bulbs, had an electrician come out to check the wiring and the main panels, changed the light switches, and stil nothing. I had my uncle whose also an electrician come over one last time to check things out. He found a light switch in the furnace closet that controlled all of the electricity in the living room and it had somehow been switched off!!

Thats all it was.
