dual shurflo

chris didnt you have a dual shurflo set up one time
Yes Russ,
I sure did, and i actually started recommending them years ago on the Delco board.

My advice Russ, forget the Shurflo, and get the new Delevan pump
here is a link http://www.pwmall.com/detail.aspx?ID=2400
IF you take and parallel two of these, flow will be about 10GPM at 60PSI!

We STILL suggest 5/8 hose for these, as you "ONLY" have 60PSI, and it is very important tp "preserve" as much pressure as possible in order to move the 10 GPM's of flow up on the roof.

A "Dual Delevan" set up using this pump will make it possible to compete with the gas powered pumps some are using.

The New John Blue is only 4.3 GPM, but it has 250 PSI capability.

One only needs that extra pressure to shoot a bit further, but 60 PSI is plenty, as long as you do not pizz it away in a long length of small hose.

IMHO, based on many years of doing this, I would recommend this pump.

I have SOME reservations about it's motor life, but everything else is Jam Up on this pump.

He sports Viton Valves, poly body, and Santroprene Diapraghms, and 1/2 inch outlets, so ONLY an idiot would "cripple" him by using smaller hose.

I really wish there was a pump like this back when I started!

Really, just ONE of these pumps, with decent sized hose, should really rock.

Two would almost be "frightening" ..... and IF I had the SMALL John Blue pump on my trucks, I would be running for cover ....

MY pumps deliver over 10 GPM's at 150 PSI, so I am "safe"

Oh, BTW, someone told me these pumps can have their pressure switches "turned up" a tad ...

But, IF I did that, I would get me some Heat Sinks to keep the motors cool.

Honestly Russ, Shurflo's are "old news" ...... Delevans and Flojets have long since surpassed them.

Chris

i currently have 2 shurflos at 3.4 gpm each and i am using a 5/8 hose also i still have the old tried and true 1.8 with a 1/2 inch hose

i was curious if yoou were still using that or not

thanks again for the info chris

i would like to see more of your do and dont post ,i enjoy the reading as i am shure more would too

Hey Chris,

Just wanted to let you know that I traded in my 3/8 hose yesterday for a 5/8. WOW what a difference it made. I get at least an extra 10 feet out of it. I also found a 1/8 barb tip to use as a shooter tip. It really works well to.

Ya'll mentioned turning up the pressure switch, I used shurflos years ago and I would stretch the spring out and put it back in; this would add more tension and keep mine from pulsing.

Now, THAT makes me feel good Man!
This was common knowledge among us "old timers" on my OLD home, the Delco board.

When I finally started exploring other boards, I was absolutely shocked at some of the recommendations going down.
I challenged them, and faced much personal ridicule, and flat out disrespect.
But I stuck to my guns, and it has paid off.

Almost everyone has now gone to the "new" larger hose, and their life has been made easier, and THAT makes me feel good!

Increasing Hose size increases BOTH Flow and Presure!
Might want to play with a slightly larger nozzle to take full advantage of the "new" flow ?

No Russ, we haven't used Shurflo's of any kind in years.

If it were me, I would tandem the two Shurflo's "Apple Style", like I did back in the old days.
With 5/8 hose to take full advantage of the increased flow you get from two paralled pumps, this will be a formidible setup.

Flow will increase to 6.8 GPM, and pressure will stay constant at 45 PSI.

However, you can simply turn the pressure screws all the way in IF you need a bit more pressure.

Why not do this until they burn up, THEN get the new Delevan Russ ?

Hey, use what ya got, huh ?

That way there is more money for sum boiled peanuts, kuntry ham, and beer ?

And, 2 tandem Shurflo's ain't exactly a "joke" either.

Just be sure each line coming out of the pumps is the same length, so each pump splits the load equally ?

i like the specs on the pump ,i will probably go ahead and order 2 tomorrow more updates later on how it goes
Check EBAY Russ ?
Louise up in New Jersey just ordered one on our resommendation off Ebay.
I THINK she paid 99 dollars ?
I just posted the link I did because it had good detail on the pump we now suggest.
Buy it from whoever you get the best deal from man ?

What size hose were ya using then Tim ?
Being a Fireman, I know you understand the Math supporting as large a hose size as practical, but I was just curious ?

I quoted a customer $112.75 for the Delevan pump.

Russ, here is the pic of that pump.

Here it is next to my old shurflo.
