I was wondering if anyone from another part of the United States would like to join the Staff.

I’m currently looking for any and all methods to join the Expert staff here at PWI.

Requirements,

1. 10 plus years
2. Formal education preferred ( if you have more experience not required ) 15 plus
3. References
4. Profile
5. Mandatory questioner filled out
I want to mainly get different methods of cleaning involved and I know if three basic ways a roof is cleaned.
Sunbrite -way
Apple- way
Roof-a -cide
All these ways end in similar results.

No, you see guys. PWI has changed its tone. Smart people know that there more than one right way.

The gent in washington is affraid of exactly that. He has 20 years in the buz, he lived in GA. he washed in FL and i have known him for about 12 years.

He thinks his cleaning will not be accepted. Its more expensive but and alternate method.

He has not confirmed and thats why i'm looking for a person somewhere other than FL.

I LIVED in Seattle for 15 years Ron.
The needs of the North West Roof Cleaner are WAY different then us in Fla.
They have wicked Moss/Lichen problems out there.
 
You HAVE to use pressure out there, the Moss will spread the shingles open if you dont do something.
You CAN kill the Moss, but it is no easy to remove w/o a LITTLE flow/pressure
 
Ive seen pics of some of that stuff on roofs out there as well. I would end up sticking with ground work if I had to deal with cleaning roofs with that on it.
 
Here in NOVA, we deal with moss and lichen like this:
Hit it with second application and let dwell.........a little more........ok, a little more dwell, hit it with the garden hose. You can even do larger areas with a 6 pattern nozzle (fan pattern) the stuffs gotta be dead and mostly loose though.
 
I am no expert however I have spoke to and learned from many of the so called "experts" on these boards. If your friend comes on here and states his way is "THE WAY" I don't think that will fly. The "Behind the KEYBOARD" Ego's have not yet realized there voices are heard. Some just have so much pride and feel there way is "The Way". Bottom line is the end result, and almost all are the same. I have seen Apples rig, Don's rig, Nick the cleaners, and a lot of other locals not on these boards. All clean roofs with the same results for the customer a clean Algae free roof. But not one of these company's take the same road to get there. Different pumps, different chem mixtures, Different pricing there is nothing to say which ONE is right. It only maters what works for you. These boards a great because it provides the knowledge for us to chose what we feel is right for our situation. Hell I use diffenent mixes for different types of roofs. I dont care how old of a dog you are these boards can teach you something. Freedom of speech is great but disrespecting each other on these boards will only lead to people not willing to share or help others and thats what these boards are all about.It is going to be much harder for use to advance in the future with out the open lines of communication. If you want to fight or make an a$$ of yourself go to the local bar and man up! Most are here to share and learn. As many challanges as this industry faces I would think working together would help use move forward.

I have no intentions of a fight, I asked a gent that cleans roof with alternative methods to assist on the BBS. He claimed to me people are not ready for change.

he was correct, you guys seem to think one way or no way.

Pwi doesnt have cat fights anymore, you can disagree just like you have with me and we all can disagree.

Maybe I took that wrong, have a great weekend. dont eat too much or drink to much.

No one want's to be "changed"(my wife thinks otherwise). However if your friend wants to put his method out there so others can learn and access if the method, idea, invention or what ever it may be works for them fine. I think we should all incourage it. I just want others to open there mind and realize that there way is not the only correct way. And try not to beat someone up because of what they think is right.
