Good news and bad news

I use SBC here in Indiana, big difference at $2.50 per gallon. But that's the cheapest I have found yet.

Now that I see what it looks like it makes more sense. I was thinking APARTMENT COMPLEX, as in big 2- 3 story buildings. Greg is right. That is a 1 day job all day long. We get our sh from Gormans down here in Largo and in Clearwater. I've get an account with them also but normally just pay as we go unless its a huge job. We pay .95 per gallon for ours as well.

I keep running out of nicks in my 65 gallon tank so I brought a 55 gallon drum of SH with me. I have to keep mixing it though. I also keep going up and down the ladder to keep re sprayingthe landscaping. So far I have two down and 4 to go. And my hose just sprung a leak. Going to have to figure out what to do now.

Are you tarping the bushes? If not, expect them to get burned.

I NEVER clean a roof without a ground guy to pre-wet everything and rinse down all plants until the dripping stops.

Yeah, I try to hire some help if I have a big roof to do, but I don't do roofs often enough to have a regular employee. I'll have help today. I'm a little over half finished. I bet it only takes a few hours to finish now that I have help.

Thanks Chris!

So, first half of job, working by myself: 12 hours. Second half of job, working with a helper: 4 hours. It's amazing how much faster I can work just by having someone to keep the plants wet, and feed me hose so that I don't have to keep climbing up and down the ladder.

Usually, I bid roof cleaning at 0.15 a sq ft. I guess i have to bid large commercial jobs at a lower bulk rate. I originally bid this at 0.10 a sq ft because I thought that would get me the job. Now that it's all said and done though, I'm glad they let me match the low bid. Turned out pretty good.

Nice job Josh. It most definitely saves time having a helper/ employee or two. I'm happy for you that you were able to find a way to get that roof cleaning job done.

Just don't see how it could have been profitable enough to fool with. But I hope you were.

Josh go buy yourself some oscillating sprinklers and a Y for the spigot, some hose and set those up to do your watering for you when your by yourself. That will save you a lot of climbing up and down the ladder. That's what I do when I'm by myself. I'll set those up as soon as I show up on the job and start watering.

Well, by my calculations, I used right at 100 gallons of SH. It stretched further than I thought. Maybe it was just really fresh. I used about 2 gallons of Fresh Wash I was trying to use up anyway. (Didn't really like it.) and about 2 gallons of snot water. (That's about 1 gallon of Roof Snot, and 1 gallon of rain water.) paid a friend of a friend $60 for 4 hours of help... I guess i spent about $300. Took two days, and I made $1600 profit. I'd say it was profitable.

excellent. 800 a day is fantastic for your operation today. but dont let that be your cut off point for future bids. continue to shoot for more than that.
