Heat Heat Heat Heat Gum Gum Gum

We have a daimer 3000cvg. It works very well. You can go to daimer.com to check it out. It gets the water to about 320 degrees and it uses minimal water to remove the gum. We have jobs where we are contracted to remove gum more frequently than a full clean. With this machine we are able to clean the gum day or night regardless of hours of operation.

3 Separate times I contacted them and each time they had a real A**hole for the owner/salesman and then 2 other salesmen call me and try to sell me the machine. It does look like a good machine but I hate dealing with A**holes.

How long do the brushes last you?
How much do they cost?
Any problems with the machine?

Do you have any before/after pictures showing gum and explain how long it took with the steam machine? That would be good to know.

Chris, you should look at their video from the manufacture. They demonstrate 21 seconds for the most difficult piece of gum ( Per Video) and to do three pieces of ordinary gum, it took them over 43 seconds or 14.3 seconds per gum at their fastest rate. I am sorry, but a standard pressure washer is faster in removing gum.

The one thing I see as a benefit is the fact is that the unit uses less water and can be done during peak pedestrian hours. But faster, less work, cost effective compared to a pressure washer..... No. This will be allot slower and more labor intensive.

Here is the Manufactures real time video, Check it out. 12 to 21 seconds per piece of gum from start to finish. And that's not cleaning the dirt or stains off the cement. That is gum only. You do the math.

I am not impressed other than it can be used in crowed areas.

In my opinion, this is for the restaurant businessman who wants to save some money and have one of his employees do it thus putting our kind out of work. Think about it. The unit fits in a broom closet and plugs into a 110 outlet.

Looks like it still leaves ghost shadows. Is this true? If so i see no need for this other than what jim said.

Chris,
I absolutely agree with you that they were a bunch of douche bags. But I was pretty determined to try it out so I got a hold of a the regional manager (alan) and spoke with him for several hours. Needless to say I placed my order and the machine has more than paid for itself.

By no way am i trying to say that this should replace our pressure washers, I'm just saying that this machine is a good way to offer additional services without spending over 85,000 for a pressure washer. As far as the machine goes the brushes last us about a full day and they cost about 140 for a pack of 50. We have had it for about a year and we have had no problems so far. The thing we like about it the most is that there is no diesel fuel to buy and it's rather easy to set up and use. We also clean and sanitze our clients grills, prep areas and tile & grout without having the water going all over the place. I am in no way trying to clean an entire shopping center or garage with this machine however i will use it to prep certain areas that are littered with vast amounts of old gum.

Need some opinions

Guys, need your opinion on this unit for a beginner. I've been looking into some hot water units but with just getting started this year , the prices scare the hell out of me. I'm doing okay with roofs, gutters and siding as well as pavers and residential concrete, but it's just never enough. I look at ALL the stores and food joints here and it's obvious nobody is cleaning them. I haven't approached any of them because I'm strictly cold water for now.
I ran into a guy at my mechanic's shop today and he has a used unit for $1,600. 1000 psi, 200 degrees and 3 gpm. It's electric with diesel burner. Alot of new parts.
All I'm looking for is something for the gum. Any thoughts? trying to get a picture

Jorge, is there any way you could do a short video with your steam machine cleaning some gum? I know it would be a pain in the butt, but it would be very interesting to see that brand of machine working on a lot of pieces of gum to see what it could really do.

Find anything that works on the gum shadows? A lot of us are still looking for the chemical that cleans gum shadows.

Thanks.
