Help! The lines continue!

Nigel my main PW is 8gpm and the bigguy has only 1 spraybar with 2 nozzles on it. the
20" is 2 spraybar with 25s now.I use 1545/2545 tips most of the time(sometimes 1550s)

Nigel, wont that be creating too much back pressure and wear your seals out faster?
Wont it also get less water on the surface and reduce cleaning speed? what SC are you runnung?

I usually only run 100ft of hose since I mainly do restaurants. Last night I removed one hose, and the water pressure went up enough to solve the issue I was having with the lines. The sc cleaned much better, but it was a big pain working with only 50 ft of hose length.

I want to figure out what else I can do to raise the pressure so I can go back to at least 100ft of hose. I tried following another post about all the technical things regarding pressure, but was kinda lost. Any simple things I can do keeping in mind I don't know much about tinkering with it?

I hope it was not one of my post that got you lost.

Do you have a guage on the head of the pump?
It would come in handy to determine exactly what it is doing and for any adjustments.

The coil, could have some restriction or buildup, you would have to put a guage after the coil to determine the pressure losses if any. Same for the hoses.

How many gpm are you running, the higher the gpm, the more resistance to flow in the same size hose.I think that 7gpm and up is the turning point for 1/2" hose for flatwork.

Check nozzles for wear, order a new set and see if the pump head pressure goes up, than you know the old nozzles are killing your pressure. (ensure the correct size)

Make sure that you swivel is not leaking.........or a long shot a pin hole in the spray arms.

Ensure your unloader is adjusted and functioning properly. no more than 5% into bypass with the correct nozzle size.

Small items but maybe worth checking, The trigger gun is rated for the flow or better, your hose has not been crushed in any portion of its length.

Lol, it was your post! Lots of great info in it, i'm just new to tinkering with mine.

I will have to go pick up a gauge tomorrow. My pump is only 4gpm. My sc is 24" with two arms. I think my swivel does have a small leak, and it is a little loose (I can wiggle the arms up/down about 1/8" or so). I replaced the nozzles last week. Not sure how to gauge what the unloader is set at. I was going to take it to the Landa dealer and have them do a tune up on it soon. Thanks for the great info Nigel.

Hi Mike

I think a 24" surface cleaner is pretty big to run from a 4 gpm machine. You should try a 18". What you lose in size you will more than make up for in speed. You will be able to walk much fastee

Should have the gauge that way you know what is going on.

I hope this isn't the case but lets say that the pump has a few hours on it and that they were ran dry for a little and the packings are worn a little and maybe the unloader is weak and is bypassing to much and you may be losing quite a bit of pressure without even knowing it.

Some very good info in the this thread!!!

Hope you can figure it out soon!!

Thanks Mark. That's come up a few times. I might go with the whisper wash classic.

Have you used the stencil you got from Dale?

You might be on to something. The unloader pulses regularly every 2-3 seconds when I don't have the trigger pulled.

you could have a leaky o ring or a small pin hole in either the coil, trigger gun, hose ect. but every 2 to 3 seconds is pretty quick so the leakshould be fairly easy to find in my oponion.

Not yet, business had been good lately and not a lot of time for demos. But I will be using it a lot after new year

Here's a couple pics of recent work I have done. The before conditions were pretty greasy in these areas.

If it's greasy talk to a "hood rat" as Scott like to call me.

Also it's been said when it come to grease if your degreaser has a name it's CRAP!! . I've found this to be true.

But your issue is with the lines ........... sorry can't help you.:triniti:
