How can we stop water from getting in cable boxes???

You cant stay away from them when washing residential Ron. We have it in our business policies and procedures now that we are not responsible for faulty cable and phone boxes. We tape them but still have had issues. I want more commercial work. Residential work sucks but the cash is good.

We seem to cause several every year to short out. Usually they just come back fine but I'm always seeing coaxial junctions that are exposed, no box whatsoever. Its a wonder the rain doesn't cause cable problems sometimes...oh wait, it does.

Im sure a heavy blowing rain has caused that issue plenty of times. The problem is that people assume your putting alot of "pressure" on them and thats whats causing them to stop working. When its just the water flow running down the siding and getting behind the box which is really difficult to even wrap or tape off because it can still seep. We have about 10 a year it happens to let alone the ones you dont hear about because after it dries out they usually start working again and the customer never calls you to complain about it.
Same thing with outlets. It will trip the ground fault which in this part of the country is supposed to be on all outside outlets.
