Just curious what advertising is working the best for contractors in our line of work.

Our company hasn't had to advertise since majority of our work is word of mouth for wood restoration. We also get jobs from the referral's of the HOA in some communities listing us in the newsletters as the wood restoration company to use for fence cleaning and staining.

Wood restoration is great for repeat business and I have had some of the same customers for 15+ yrs. We are also a sole distributor for the Baker's Gray Away in Houston and are protected in and around Houston. So that has also helped us build our business over the last 20 yrs.

The most recent job I sold came from a referral from the poster above. Shane.

Thanks Shane.

No problemo Doug glad I was able to help!

Internet search should be added to the poll as I receive half of my jobs via this route with the other half coming from customer referrals or prospects seeing my rigs on the road or on a job site.

Poll is limited to 10 ... use other and explain in your post.

I'm not sure how to change the poll... I wanted business referral to be contractor referral.

I imagine the Internet would easily rank higher than TV or newspaper nowadays.

Most all of the work we get comes from internet searches. However, this year we have seen a huge bump up in repeat clients and referals. We haven't done any actual paper advertising in what seems like a lifetime.

Ditto

I have got some jobs from people finding me on the BBS's so thanks to the BBS owners!

I voted other and customer/business referral. All of our work comes from either internet or web site, referrals, or Repeat.

The last job I got was from a referral, my website has not been doing much for the past 6 or 8 months, time for changes.

This week we did 25 services this week of which 18 were referrals and 7 were from our website.

I voted customer referral, but after nearly 20 years in the roof cleaning business in Tampa, people seek you out.
I get referrals from people I don't even know, or remember. My main website was down for a few weeks this year, and I did not even feel it.
We do tend to "cherry pick" jobs, and mainly only clean roofs. In fact, the only way we will clean screen rooms, dways, and houses, is if we are already there cleaning the roof. I choose to farm out exterior cleaning jobs to my pressure washing friends, who dont want to clean roofs. They in turn send us roof cleaning jobs.
It works for us.

Referrals are the majority and current clients who add work. Then web site. I start the year with scheduled maintenances every year .
